(Photos were taken by the blue blog's new official photographer, S. He is so hired! I tried to take some pics on my own but they came out terrible.)
So here it is, in all of it's still-slightly-too-short-despite-my-having-lengthened-it glory. I am, however, very pleased with how the button bands came out after my changes. I wish the ribbing in the middle would actually cinch the sweater in a bit, but still that lace sure is lovely.
And I am surprised by how much I like this short-sleeved summer cardigan idea. It was delightful to wear both inside the yarn store, where it was a little humid and stuffy, and outside, where it was cool and breezy. It seems that even the teacher can learn something new.

summer knits
It looks terrific! I have similarly just gotten a new appreciation for vests. I recently knit my first one, not knowing if I'd ever wear it and I love it. It's perfect for San Francisco weather!
It looks great! It's a nice color and doesn't look too short on you. Plus, it goes great with jeans! :-)
How cute! It looks great! I agree - the lace is perfect!
That looks lovely - I've got to make me one of those (which is something I frequently think after reading your blog).
Lovely- you could always thread some elastic or yarn through the "waist" band to cinch it in a bit...
Looks great! I have one started... you're making me want to get back to it.
Really cute sweater. Looks great on you and I think the length is good.
What a photographer you hired! Better pics than I get from mine.
S has a terrific eye for photography! I especially love the back view one!
Cute! I'll have to add this to my list, because I am always looking for a cardigan or similar sweater even in the middle of July (let's just ignore this July for the moment). I will keep the ribbing issue under advisement and go down a needle size or two for that much.
I'm over halfway up the back of my own Hey Teach now, and it happens to be almost the same color as yours! Yours looks great--I hope I'll be able to say the same about mine when I'm done.
Yours looks wonderful and pictures are tops. This top is giving me a bit of grief in the incomplete lace rows, but I will persevere now that I see yours.
Echoing the suggestion of skimming a couple of elastic threads through the inside of the ribbing. It works beautifully for me in hems or hat bands whenever my ribbing starts to get a little too relaxed.
Gah, hit post before I was finished...
Your new sweater looks great, and congrats to S. on his new job--they're tough to land in this economy!
Looks great! I think I'm now convinced I need to make this sweater...
It looks great! I love mine and am getting a lot of wear out of it this summer.
If you make it again and want the ribbing to cinch in more, switch to a smaller size needle for that section and it should do the trick. :)
I think it looks great - doesn't look too short at all. (Although, I too would probably want it an inch or 2 longer f I were making it for myself - something can look just fine but not feel quite right.)
Would working the ribbing on smaller needles have worked? I've not knit this, so I haven't read it through all the way, but that's one suggestion . . .
It looks great on you! I'd hire S as well.
It looks great!! Perfect for the summer!
It is a very nice sweater and on you, miss nice waist, the fact that you think it's too short is no disadvantage. I LOVE the painting behind you in the first 2 photos. Did you do them?
Penny
Thanks, Penny. No, the painting was on display at a local coffee shop ages ago. I responded to it the same way you did and a friend bought it for me as a housewarming gift. Twelve years (and a few houses) later and I still love it!
It looks totally great and wearable for summer weather!
I wouldn't mind owning one!
I am so glad you posted this! It's number 1 of 320 or so patterns in my Ravelry queue. I have some acid green worsted that is screaming to be made into this. Yours looks FANTASTIC.
