phew

The little Mandarin Petit stripy raglan sweater, it is done.

I am so thrilled to have finished something other than a hat! (Let's face it, it's been ages since I've finished a sweater.) But even more exciting than having finally gotten this non-finishing monkey off my back, is finally getting to see this cutie patootie little stripy sweater on my wee one.

Wee loves the sweater so much, she didn't mind posing for extra pics at all. So here's a back shot!

I love the colors on her. The Mandarin Petit cotton is so lovely. Doing the stripes and carrying all those balls of yarn was a bit of a nightmare, but it's a fabulous sweater. And it's still plenty long on her, so I hope she'll still be able to wear it in the Fall.

Phew. I did it. And it feels good.

Really cute:), esp. the model!

It's perfect! It looks as if Wee will wear it in the Fall for sure, and maybe even next winter. Lots of length in the body and sleeves. That was smart planning! I love the colours and the sweet little girlie wearing the sweater! :)

Adorable! I've been wondering though, why did you carry the balls of yarn? Could you have just cut them off and woven them in later?

Posted by: Teresa at March 22, 2010 5:20 PM

Exactly, Teresa, I could have cut them off and woven ALL of them in later. About half the stripes in the sweater are one round - that was too many ends for me to even think about!

Posted by: ALISON at March 22, 2010 5:22 PM

The one time I did a stripey sweater the instructions had a tip for how to weave in ends as you go... after I got the hang of it I thought it was easy, almost as fast as just plain knitting, and then I didn't have to carry a lot of different colors! The original instructions were in the pamphlet for Knit Picks Fibonacci sweater, but a quick search online showed descriptions there as well. For example: http://sockpr0n.blogspot.com/2006/10/how-to-weave-in-ends-while-knitting.html

For next time. :-)

Great job! I finished a sweater with a zipper today--then realized I sewed the zipper in backwards. Sewing in ends sounds like a breeze today...

Wee one's colorful sweater is just beautiful on her. I love all the different colors and what is better than a sweater finished, one that will for longer than a season!

So cute. Wee and the sweater are adorable.

It cam out even nicer than I thought it would. Looks great on Wee & it looks like a perfect year round (or near year round) weight for a sweater.

Posted by: Donna at March 22, 2010 6:57 PM

Wow!! That sweater is amazing! I love it. So adorable.

Congratulations! It was most definitely worth all the work! And Wee One will probably wear it until it drops off her. You most definitely know your daughter.

it is absolutely gorgeous, and goes absolutely perfectly well with her coloring. Congrats!

Awwww. You really must have the patience of the gods. I look at that lovely sweater and start to break out in a sweat imagining all the ends that had to be woven in. I'm in awe of your patience. Wee one looks so happy in her new sweater. So sweet.
