pompoms make everything better

I made nine pompoms. (And all without the help of my knitbuddy and pompom-maker extraordinaire, Dani - so wrong of her to move away before I made this hat!) Three go on an i-cord at the top of the hat and three each on i-cords that will be attached to the ear flaps.

This thing is going to be so cute!

PS - I refuse to say pom-pon. It is simply not fun enough. Ditto with sherbet. Not going to happen. Ever.

Pom-poms are my downfall. I am impressed with yours! Love Wee One's Dora the Explorer bathing suit!

So cute! We recently spent a week with my daughter's family & I took along a bunch of crafty items for the kids: a couple of potholder looms, 2 Knitting Bees, needles & yarn. The Knitting Bees (which I go from Hobby Lobby) are knitting spools made to look kind of like bees but they also include a clever pom pom maker which the kids loved.

What do you use to make pompoms? I can never get mine to stay intact. Can't wait to see the finished hat!

You mean the word ISN'T pom-pom? Who knew?

1)I make my pompoms the old fashioned way by wrapping the yarn around an index card or a CD case - but lots of yarn gets wasted when the cutting starts. Does the plastic doohickie prevent wastage?
2) I suspect that my 20-something daughters would not be averse to an outing to the American Girl store in the Boston area.

Clover makes extraordinary pom-pom makers. So easy to use and you get a perfect pom-pom each time. They make several sizes and usually 2 sizes are packaged together.

I found it worth the money to buy some of these and find I make pom-poms for things like package decorating and cat toys.

Thanks for the tips! I do have one of those circular pom pom makers but they somehow never work out for me. Maybe I just need to pack more yarn in there. I'll try again with it. Thanks!

Have a question about one of the patterns in your Charmed Knits book. Something seems not quite right... Thanks! K
