where are they now? seriously, where are they?

We're just back from a fabulous weekend in NYC visiting Grandma. We took advantage of the gorgeous weather and went to the Top of the Rock, which has the best views of New York City that I've ever seen. And since we were already at Rockefeller Center, we had to stop in at the new Lego store there.

Rockefeller Center in Legos
The boys scored some awesome NYC legos.

Before our big weekend in the Big Apple, we putted around Boston.

The boys had been wanting to visit this Boston themed mini-golf course for weeks, so despite the over 90 degree heat wave, we trudged out to the utterly shade-less Village Green to hit some balls and lose about 10% of our body weight.
Meanwhile, the boys have been preparing for our annual trip to Germany by going to German camp. After a month of following the German team during the World Cup and now two weeks of German language class, they're psyched to go.

Wee is preparing for Germany by learning how to wipe herself after going potty. Apparently, hubby is planning to take a vacation from that while we're there.
Just two weeks and we're off. So stay tuned: vacation 2010 is coming! This year with added attractions!

happy feet
I'm having some foot problems. With the trip to Germany scheduled for next week, I'm off to see a podiatrist this afternoon to get it dealt with asap. Meanwhile, I'm thinking happy foot thoughts by doing a little sock knitting.

While teaching a sock class this month, I surprised myself by finishing my sample sock. I actually started knitting this pair of socks four years ago (the yarn came from my Dye-o-rama Sock Yarn Swap buddy). For some reason, back in June of '06, I'd put the first sock down right before the heel. Soon thereafter, I taught a sock class, found the sock and decided to use it to demonstrate heel and toe techniques. Then the sock got buried in my teaching bag, only coming out for a quick patched on heel and toe in each successive sock class. Until this time. We had an extra week in sock class this time and so I knit the foot. For real. (Up to now, I'd just done a heel and like a quarter inch of foot and then skipped to the toe.) Giddy with success, I cast on for sock number two and finished it the following week. Pretty blue socks that match my blue blog.
A belated thanks to my Dye-o-Rama buddy all those years ago for some now much needed sock therapy.
