Here is S explaining to an oncoming B that he's very sorry but this package of yarn is undoubtedly for him. As you can see, B is trying to bribe his brother into handing it over in exchange for some other mail, but S is having none of that. After luring the boys away with a few raisins, I finally got a chance to check out my new yarn. Yay! It's my reward to myself for finishing elizabeth: another Starmore sweater, this time Iona from The Celtic Collection. Thanks to Kerrie for giving me the nudge I needed to go ahead and splurge for this project that I've been dying to make for such a long time and of course for sending all the yarn over to me from the UK. The yarn is Rowan's Chunky Chenille in a most lovely purple shade with a luscious red for the contrast color (this page shows both colors). The red is coming later in separate package. I guess we should let B bring that one in when it arrives!

Yay! I'm glad it made it over safely and that you like the colour.. The picture is so cute, Brooke also gets excited about the post arriving and insists on opening everything as it comes through the door! Make sure that Benny gets the next parcel, I don't want him to feel left out..
I am glad to know I am not the only one who has warring children when packages come. Of course yesterday my oldest daughter and I were fighting over the box of yarn I got from Threadbear!
That's great! I made this sweater for my mum in exactly those two colors a few years ago. I recall with the chenille I was advised to use bamboo needles (makes it a bit "sticky" to knit but I think the tension is better). I really enjoyed making that sweater.
PS--in regards to your concerns in the previous post, I think anyone who can finish TWO of everything has some tenacity indeed!
Wow ! That's going to be gorgeous ! I love those colours ,really I do - if you could see my wardrobe !!!
Oliver is very fond of post ,shopping bags etc. too . ;-]
Great action photo. I have never knit with chenille so I will be interested to see how you do. When do you think you will start the project?
I actually just had The Celtic Collection arrive in the mail yesterday. I've been picking it up and looking at it in stores for years. Add about five more sweaters to the "potentials" list.
I'll be interested to hear how the chenille knits up.
Hey Julie, how cool that you've done this sweater in the same colors! I feel better about my choice now that I know someone else thought they would look good together too. Did you have any difficulties with the chenille? Anyone else worked with this yarn before?
As to when I'll be starting this sweater, I'd say about 15 seconds after the red yarn arrives!
I just wanted to say it is always a pleasure to see pictures of your boys! It is amazing all this projects you have knitted so far.
Hopefully one day I'll get to a fraction of your talent and I'll be pleased! ;) Keep on posting pics, it really makes it fun to see what you are up to! :)
Alison, I had no problems working with the chenille, and I used the Rowan, too. I think bamboo needles are soothing to work with, and chenille really looks nice in reverse stockinette. I will enjoy watching your progress!
Wow, I love the Elizabeth III. :) And can't wait to see your next Starmore. Great stuff..I had fun browsing through all your FOs. :)
