green sleeve

Greensleeves is underway. I started with a sleeve, naturally, and I'm loving the moss stitch! My only concern is that I might not have enough yarn. If you remember, this is the yarn that I got at our knitting group's yarn swap back in the Fall and I'm not really sure how much I've got of it. It looks to be about 7 skeins at 175 yds each, but one skein was already wound and may not be complete and the 175 figure is from some book somewhere and wasn't printed on the ball bands. I did some math comparing the gauge/yardage requirements for Able to my gauge/estimated yardage of the green tweed and it seemed doable, but now that I've used one whole ball on the lower half of the first sleeve, I'm worried. So, I stopped there and have decided to go ahead and cast on for the back. I'd rather run out of yarn on the sleeves than on the body of the sweater! If I have to, I could redo the sleeve and use a bit of the purple on the cuff.

I'm so excited to be using this yarn finally and I really love the pattern, so I'm enjoying the knitting very much and remain hopeful that it will work out.

I loev the colour of this, its a beautiful Jade isn't it? But so much moss stitch frightens me slightly. Not sure that I could do it but I know its going to look gorgeous.

Fingers crossed that you have enough yarn..

I, too, am a fan of this color. Go, Alison, Go! ;)

Good call on the color, Kerrie! Jade sounds so much more subtle and rich than bright green, which I'd been calling it up until now. I don't think that the color is quite as vibrant as it appears in the photo, though. Let's just say that so far it's been very photogenic.

Anyway to do the cable down the front in the purple too? Just a thought! Love that color.

Another thought : Why not do 1/2 the front green ,1/2 purple, with the cable = rope of green & purple twining round each other.I can visualise that ,and it looks good .
Too ''arty'' for you ?

Chris, that was the plan, but I'm still worried about not having enough of the green yarn. Emma, your idea is very intriguing. The more I think about it, the more I like it. I'll have to see how much yarn the back takes and then really consider how to do it. Thanks for the suggestions!

Looks great! I found another skein of that purple--I forgot I used it to test out my winder--so if you'd like it, it's yours.

I really like Emma's idea. I am always worried about not having enough yarn (especially when I try to do things with my handspun).

I adore moss stitch (not that I've done it yet!). One of our knitting groupies made a baby blanket using nothin' but moss stitch. Really cushy. The colors are beautiful and I look forward to seeing that purple cable. I'll keep my fingers crossed on your yardage. Hopefully, this one won't make it to the garbage. Sorry. Just a rhymin' kind of day.
