oh boy

Well, we started moving. I even schlepped the yarn stash over to its new home by my new sewing table. But then this happened. And I've got an emergency root canal this afternoon. Oh, and happy birthday to my husband! Brown butter's gonna be a bit late.

Oh no! Poor little guy! I hope he feels better soon. :-)

Yikes! Guess the first week of May is going down in your scrapbook as one you'd like to forget. Luckily the cast should be off before swimming season begins! Good luck, keep on knitting....

Ack!! Get better soon, both of you! (Such a trooper, your boy is.) And happy birthday to your husband, too!

Posted by: Becky at May 5, 2003 9:25 AM

Oh my gosh! I'll be waiting to hear what happened and how everyone is. Take care!

Posted by: michelle at May 5, 2003 10:28 AM

Poor little fella. I hope you are both feeling better soon. What a bummer.

Let's hope trouble doesn't come in threes. Keepin' my fingers crossed. (You can bet he'll be braggin' about his cast for years to come! "Mom, do you remember when . . .?" My kids love mishap stories from their 'youth.')

it's really not fair -- they didn't give out those cool blue casts when I was young and breaking limbs!! :) i'm sure you were probably more upset than he was -- so i'm just writing to say "It's OK!! he'll heal! and probably way way way faster than the doctor has led you to believe!!"

Posted by: carolyn at May 5, 2003 12:45 PM

Ouch! I hope he (and you) are feeling better soon! Too bad we weren't all closer, or we could help you pack and move!

Posted by: Sarah at May 5, 2003 2:21 PM

There's always something happening when you have kids! You will be surprised at how quickly he learns to deal with the cast! When my son (now 21) was 5 he broke his leg and had a cast from hip to toe. He looked pitiful but it didn't stop him from goin' a hellin' on his tiny crutches!

Good luck with the move. I feel for you gurl, especially since we just did a month ago! Doesn't matter how short of a distance - a move, is a move is a move.

Sign me up for the striped sweater! Becky is sending me the goodies soon so I should be on track. I'm also going to knit a similar tank/V-neckT from Jaeger JMO6. When I saw the tank pic., I thought it was very similar to the one I was about to start. So, I feel like I'm on for that one too. ( have to add sleeve when one lives in alaska!!)

Yeouch! How did he manage that? How horrible was it for you? I dread taking my little one to the ER - and I haven't had to yet.

Hope you feel better quickly from your root canal too. What a day!

Yikes Alison. I hope your son's bone heals quickly and that your root canal goes smoothly. When it rains it pours (sometimes).

Ah, bless him the poor little chap! I hope he feels better soon..

Posted by: Kerrie at May 6, 2003 3:30 AM

Awwwww, poor thing! I hope both of you are feeling better soon. Broken bones and root canals are no fun!

Oh pooh, I love that striped sweater. But fundage limits right now prevent me from asking Becky to get the patterns and yarn. Gosh I wish Phildar was readily available in the US. :(

Hope your little guy's arm is okay!! I managed to not break a bone until I was about 24 or 25 I think..broke my pinkie toe clear in half..it couldn't have been worse...I mean..who wants to tell a story about how they broke their pinkie toe?!?! :)

Hopefully the relaxation from your recent vacation will help you whether the current storm of adversity!

Please sign me up for the striped sweater knitalong (aka Lil Becky (tm) Carolyn). My yarn and pattern are probably mid-Atlantic as we speak. I have to finish a short-sleeve sweater in nylon ribbon yarn for a couple of June weddings, so the June 1 start-date for your knitalong should give me some great incentive!

You can list me as AlisonG or Ali. Wouldn't want people to confuse me with the illustrious owner of the blue blog!

Was so busy yesterday I didn't take the time to view your photo on what happened! Poor guy. Just when everything seems to be piling up on you - remember, smile. (they say that it releases endorpins to make you feel better)

Posted by: MKaye at May 6, 2003 12:43 PM

OUCH! I do hope you both heal quickly (what a birthday gift for Dad!!)

Posted by: genia at May 6, 2003 12:59 PM

Poor Sweetie! I hope he's feeling better, and I hope that they gave you the "good" drugs! I hope that you're both up to speed soon!

Posted by: Kim at May 6, 2003 2:01 PM

double ouch!

my five year old broke her arm this spring too. the cast has been off for a month and you'd never know it'd happened.

hope you're both on the mend soon!

Thanks so much to all of you who sent your kind wishes and shared similar experiences. Benny is learning to live with the cast and I'm trying not to get all weepy when I see him struggling with it. Poor little guy. I'll be sure to post a pic when the cast comes off so we all can celebrate.
