tank girl six

Even I can't believe it, but it's true: Smooch will be my fifth tank this summer. The deal is, I know I've got at least one more in me and in the stash - I've got a few balls of Cotton Ease in white white (yes, that's two whites!). Uh huh, tank girl six is in the planning stages. I really like the finished look of both Pagan and Smooch, so I'm thinking of crossing them somehow. Maybe Pagan with the cap sleeves, but the plunging neckline from Smooch. Maybe the v-neck Pagan with some frilly edging a la Smooch. I like the thought of kind of mixing things up a bit on this tank, after strictly following patterns for the first five. I'm imagining a sort of pretty, white, franken-tank, assembled out of design elements from its five predecessors. Fun!

I know some of your Tank Girls have used Cotton-Ease for their tanks. Have they found knots in the balls of yarn? I'm using it for a toddler sweater (shower gift) and there has been at least one knot in each skein of the blue. Most annoying and disappointing. I'm wondering if my experience is typical.

Charlotte, I don't remember finding any knots in the few balls I've used so far. I haven't heard anyone else complain about it. But I hope others will respond so we can have a better sample. You might consider writing to Lion Brand to inform them or complain.

Hi Alison -- I started my Smooch last night! So next time you're updating, you can change my name to pink. :-)

Fun pattern!

Alison: I love the idea of a Franken-tank!

I also like the edging of Smooch, but don't particularly like doing the knit on cast on... I grew up with the long-tail cast on, so may try using that one for my 2nd test tank using even smaller needles for the cast on than I used for the blue & plum yarn... it seems like a tight cast on would actually be advantageous for Smooch...
(re: "test tank": I'm having some indecision about sizing so rather than rip & re-do, I'll start a 2nd in a different color & THEN decide which to rip for something else...betcha I'll say "I like this size but like that color"...arrrgh! )

Wendy: you started last night? LOL... I bet you'll be done with your tank before the middle of this week! How's the Watercolor camisole going?

Help fellow knit-alongers. I am waiting patiently for both Smooch pattern and Striped Sweater (wannabe)yarn and pattern to arrive. I am jealous though with everyone having so much fun. For Smooch I am using Cotton Ease so I have the yarn and could at least make a swatch. Is it ok to give me the needle/gauge specs? I'll understand if it is not. I am getting so ansty, darn this mail system/customs anyway. Doesn't help that I live out in the sticks of the arctic!!!

Ha! Ha! Good luck has come my way. Sure as I posted the above note my mailman brought my pattern book from Colourway!!!! I think it was a good omen. I will start my Smooch tonight. In Alaska we celebrate today, Midsummer, or "Solstice" as we call it. I will stay up until the midnight sun goes down beginning my "Smooch"(that might mean I never make it to bed as the dark-dark never really comes). What a great way to celebrate! (That and a glass of wine!)
