making cookies
I finally tackled a scripting problem I've been having on the blog with my cookies not remembering anyone's info on the comment screen. I'd tried several times to figure out what was wrong with the so-called "bake cookie" scripts, but frankly, what I don't know about cookies is A LOT! All I knew is that I couldn't ever get it to work for me. And I had almost convinced myself that I was the only one troubled by this little glitch, but then Marg let me know in my comments on Monday that she was having the same problem when visiting my blog. Alas, it seems the code was eating up all the cookie dough before it could be baked.
So I searched and tinkered, checked and rechecked, tried and retried, and rebuilt and finally, finally figured out the problem with the old oven here. Everything should be in working order and for the price of a comment, you too can enjoy a blue blog cookie. Yum!
Inspired by my virtual success, I decided to whip up a batch of cookes irl, as they say.

No, not from scratch! Seriously, what I don't know about baking cookies is a lot.

Thought I smelled something cookin' around here! Don't worry, Hillary Clinton didn't know anything about baking cookies either. ;)
Uh, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the cookies are burnt. (Oven shorted out again, perhaps?) :)
Okay, not quite making cookies yet. It's working on the Linux "oven" here, but still doesn't seem to be working on the Windows "oven".
Hold, please.
Let me see if I can at least get you some real cookies while you're waiting....
I can smell the chocolate chips from here! :-)
P.S. Maybe it's my computer...but "yes" became "no" again with my personal info...(sigh) Try another recipe?
I think the problem is that you're using Nestle's chips. Try the Ghiradelli. (Hint: Ring up Nancy in CA. I'm sure she knows all about ovens and cookies. Tell her I sent ya.)
Pics in comments! Nice! Thanks for the cookie and the sugar buzz. :)
Cookies irl are a snap. Easier than following a complicated pattern. I'll type out a basic chocolate chip recipe for you, um, in my free time today. :-) I might even manage it, since reading about cookies and looking at pictures of them is making me think I shoudl make some this afternoon instead of napping.
I don't know anything at all useful about making cookies on computers though. Sorry I can't help there. Good luck!
I don't know anything about fixing cookies but I do have the world's best recipe for making them!
A big thanks to girlie from Moveable Type's Support Forum for helping me find the typo in my cookie scripts! If you're running MT and have a problem, I highly recommend searching their forums for help. If you still have a question, see their guidelines for posting and try asking someone there. And be sure to check out girlie's tips blog at the girlie matters for cool MovableType tips and tricks. Thanks again, girlie!
Let's just see if this works now! ;-) Here's a great PB cookie recipe, from GGC (Girl Guides of Canada):
"I can't believe it's a cookie!"
1 c. sugar
1 c. peanut butter (smooth or chunky)
1 egg.
Blend. Roll into balls. Place on cookie sheet (lightly greased in need be). Flatten with a fork. Bake 10 mins or so at 375F. Enjoy! :-)
Ok all this cookie talk is getting me hungry and sure enough we are out of peanut butter, for the previously posted recipes! ARGH! ;)
Taking a cookie. And another......
Thanks for being patient with my little comments boxes everyone. Feel free to share your awesome cookie recipes. Now that I've got the right "recipes" for the virtual cookies, I'm ready to try out some new recipes for the real thing. I'm printing out the pb cookie recipe for the weekend. Yum. Cookies all around!
