holiday
So, I took a little break last week from my sewing updates (and my sewing!), as I was completely focused on finishing up native for my mom's birthday (stay tuned, this week). Last week, I promised a picture of my stripey skirt and I wouldn't want it to get around that I don't keep my promises. So here it is, still without the drawstring ties.
Elsewhere in the land of project overload, I cast on for my holiday island sweater (aka, Chaise). I love the name of that Jo Sharp book and the soft, cool blue cotton that I'm using seems to fit the island theme so nicely. I'm most curious to see how I'll feel about the 3/4 length sleeves. I have two other 3/4 length sleeve projects planned for fall, so I hope I still love the idea when I'm done.

Which JS book? I missed that somewhere...the Chaise looks lovely -- a calming project in basic stocking st for those days when the rest are just too much!
Yes, Marg, you're right. It's a nice holiday from crazy intarsia patterns, for sure! The Jo Sharp book is called The Holiday Island.
PS - Just made some more of your peanut butter cookies! Yum.
Beautiful start, Alison, although it's far from blue on my monitor -- looks more taupey. Hope we'll get to see your mom model Native!
Aww, the skirt is so cute! We should have a sewing party sometime, I have some fabric and things that want to be some funky skirts :)
I'm totally digging your skirt... it's all prairie'd out! :)
I think you'll really like the 3/4 sleeves. I've been wearing a few of them this summer and I love them.
The skirt is so cute!
For some reason I can't get the color of the yarn to come out well in pictures. I haven't been able to photograph it in good lighting so far. I'll try for better lighting next time and let you know when I get a pic with the genuine color.
Thanks for the thumbs-up on 3/4 sleeves, Kathy. I'm thinking I'll like 'em. I'll certainly like knitting them more than knitting full sleeves! :)
The skirt is so cute and frilly! :)
Beautiful skirt - I've got the sewing bug at the moment. Getting ready to make something beautiful like that for myself now...
