half poncho

The first half of the poncho is done! I like how this pattern works with two identical pieces sewn together at an angle. Here's how it should look from the front - blue stripe down the right side to the point, green forming the majority of the body.

Can you tell that I was inspired by the Villa pattern from Knitty?! Unfortunately when I saw the pattern, I'd already decided to use the Manos yarn that I found in my stash and I know that Manos doesn't have anywhere near the same sort of drape that the GGH Esprit yarn does. I couldn't count on a one-piece poncho really working in this yarn. So I swiped the cool stripe idea (I love stripes!) and will stick with the two-piece poncho.

And I thought my days of wearing a two-piece were over!

Those colours are simply beautiful. That'll be one spiffy poncho!

I have a question about the Knitsmiths: who are they and where do they meet? Are they the knitting group at Brookline Booksmith that I've heard rumors about? (I live in Brookline and am looking for some knitting connections). Thanks!

I love the colors together, so unexpected but works great. Is any one in the poncho a long knitting the one from Rowan's the next big thing? I have a knitting student who is and the pattern seems to have a big boo boo.
have a wonderful day, latifa

Good thing I just settled on a yarn to use for my poncho. Now maybe I will have it cast on before you get yours completely done! Maybe I better go cast it on right now!!! Looks like a lovely bath mat, I mean, poncho.

Wow - those colours look great together. My imagination is really poor today, I can't imagine how it is going to look when its finished. Its going to be a nice surprise for me!

Pretty colors! I've been thinking of making a poncho like that with a cable in the stripe on my Bond machine. Maybe a cable/stripe on two edges, so the hem's evenly weighted (unless, of course, it makes the drape all goofy). :-)

What beautiful colors!! I can't wait to see it finished. Thanks for the tips on FI/Intarsia. The pillow suggestion sounds like a good starting point. A good way to start small and build up the skills for the real deal.
