black cherry

Sooty mango with a cherry on top.

So, I whimped out on the crazy big collar for mango. After knitting the back half of it, I decided I didn't love the wrong-side flipped over look or the split collar look as much as I liked the perfectly even ribbing. I did too good a job of picking up stitches to go hiding it all with collar! So I ripped it all out and using the neck from Cherry Picking as my model, knit on. Yes, the infamous "Cherry Boobs" has been a great resource. I borrowed a few of the numbers for armhole/sleeve shaping from that pattern when knitting the sleeves. And now I've swiped the neck. I guess it's only fitting that I've introduced the cherry color.

Nothing more satisfying than perfect ribbing. Are you going to add color to the sleeves?

Sorry to ask this question again...but the ribbing on your collar looks great and your stitches are very even. Did you knit it continental? How did you keep the stitches so uniform?

Hi again, Roseanne. I did respond to your question last time (although I'd overlooked it at first - sorry!). So check the last comment to the 11/18 post. As I said there, I've decided to do all my ribbing now with my right hand so I can control the tension better. Wish I had a great tip to give you to help even out ribbing when knitting continental, but even when twisting the stitches, I couldn't get rid of the line entirely. Becky recently mentioned that she'd been using the combined method of knitting to correct some imperfections caused by the yarn she is using. You might see if working the stitches using the combined method helps. It's worth a try, I think. Good luck!!

Oooh, lovely. That looks great, Alison. I'm not a big fan of wearing sweaters with necks like that but I love the way that they look. Great job.

Alison!! A woman of my own cherry lovin' heart!! You KNOW I'm LOVIN' this cherry flavored addition to your beautiful sweater!! It looks amazing and so so cherryish :) The contrasting neck makes the sweater even more lovely and I agree, the huge split neck on the original mango is just too much.
Well done!!!!

Oh, I love high necks. Probably because I was a giraffe in a past life. A short one. :) Love the cherry bomb! Over at the diner, this would get you a cherry coke on the house.

Hi again Alison, I forgot to add: one more down and 2 to go on my knitsmas knitting!! That makes 9 of 11 done!

LOVE the color combo, it looks great! And I agree, with the great picked up sts, why hide it?
