scarves r us
It's after Thanksgiving and time to really get going on those Christmas gifts! How you all doing out there??
In order to make some progress fast, I decided to start the scarves. Three nice, simple projects on big needles. I've still got two projects to do on tiny needles (another double-knit hat and a big cowl scarf), but I wanted to get these scarves out of the way first. Here's the first one for a friend's six year old son, made in Debbie Bliss' Merino Chunky (bought on sale!) and using a pattern from Rowan Junior.

It came out a little narrower than I would have liked. I tried giving it a wash and blocking out the ribbing, but even though the yarn softened up amazingly well, the ribbing is, well, still ribbing. The scarf is definitely warm and long enough though. And I love those boy colors too. Next up a little girl's stripey sideways garter stitch scarf. Fun!!

Super cute scarf! Keep up the good work!!
I got the last three of my planned eight gifts done this weekend. Yay, I can get back to Rosedale for me hopefully. Though I did get sidetracked by a possible new gift project... started one of those cotton chenille facecloths from IK last night!
I finished 2 more gifts this weekend! I was on quite a roll.
Count me in for one more Xmas gifts... Diva has a new Bucket-o-Chic and matching legwarmers!
Another holiday knittin' fool here, Alison! I'm up to 10 complete, but want to increase my goal to 15, as one hat's now changed recipients due to sizing. Love the scarf~
Two, count them two projects on the needles at once; a garter stitch scarf I'm calling Pemberley, because I'm knitting it while listening to the Pride and Prejudice audio book, and the first of three ribbed watch caps that I'm referring to as "my god, I had no idea ribbing would take so long." I'm planning on calling the second "here's hoping I don't knit the wrong way around and accidentally short row this hat like I did the last one" and the third will be "hope you like your blasted hat." The yarn is nice, I will say that for 100% merino.
Nice scarf Alison! I wouldn't worry about its narrowness given that it is long. I finished a gift scarf yesterday, too. So, one gift down, two more to go! Finally something finished!
Way to go, holiday knitters! Glad to hear that so many of you made good use of the holiday to get some gifties finished. Congrats!
Donna, you are too funny! I'm starting to feel similarly about all the holiday gifts I'm knitting. I want them to be so nice but I'm starting to feel the pressure!
ah, what a cute scarf! Nice colors.
Sweet scarf! I've been busy as well - you helped me determine what to change all my *undecided* knit gifts to make to --- ABC Beginner Hats! One for everyone! - well just about - some of the women-folk are getting Booga J bags too. My updated count is 6 of 23 done. :)
Great scarf, Alison! I don't even want to think about how far behind on holiday knitting I am... and my dad just mentioned he wants some handknit wool socks. How many days left? Argh... Have a great one!
Just a holiday gift update here, 4 of 8 completed. Yippee! Your gifts look great! I think I'm going to pick up some calmer and the calmer collection this weekend so I can make the calmer cap. It's so cute!
Cute! I don't think it's too narrow. It'll work for a boy's scarf. And I love that stripey action! You know how to knit 'em. (Did you do that striped pattern before? If so, I'm sorry if I'm being redundant :-))
That is a very cute stripe pattern. Things are *very* blue around here!
Project update! 10 of now 13 done...notice how more things keep getting added to the last #? Mom now has me making scarves for her to give to friends. Like I don't have enough to do!
