yarn addict reporting

The fluffy cloud scarf is finished. I just want to wrap myself up in it. It is to die for soft.

You might have noticed, but I'm slowing down on this holiday knitting. I think all this knitting to a deadline is getting to me. I'm making little annoying mistakes. First there were the two mobius strips I knitted in an attempt to start my bucket hat. Then the WS rows I kept purling on this garter stitch scarf. And then I realized about 10 rows into the scarf that I'd started with the wrong color. I'd planned to start the scarf above with purple and have a blue stripe down the middle. Whoops! But I really like it the way it is now.

And I'm getting distracted by the fabulous yarns I'm using and instead of knitting am spending my time at the yarn store lusting after more. I've visited the Plush several times now, hoping that the colors will improve. (Thanks so much for your color suggestions yesterday, by the way.) And now I've cast on for another sideways garter stitch scarf - this one in Debbie Bliss' cashmerino aran - and I love, love, love the yarn. There ARE beautiful, sophisticated colors of this yarn available. Danger, Will Robinson!

I've been drooling over some cashmerino aran I bought on sale back in October for a pattern I won't get until Christmas. I know it's very soft; does it knit well too?

I agree with you about this holiday meltdown. I finished yet another mitten, only to discover the thumb is way too big. I haven't been able to fix it; physically unable to pick it up again--or think about knitting the mate. Knitting therapy sessions, anyone?

I'm glad someone else visits yarn.

Great scarf!!! Looks awesome. Don't you just love that Plushy yarn ... yum yum

Ooh, I love the cashmerino. I used some to make myself some fingerless mitts last year and I just love 'em. I was worried the yarn would pill too much for something used on the hands, but I highly recommend it, it has held up well and hardly any pillage. Hmmm, that reminds me I would like a scarf made out of it myself...

Evenin a photo that yarn looks so plump and squishy!

I LOVE the colours of that scarf. It looks like it would be a dream to wear.

hey that scarf is lovely, what yarn did you use and where can I get some?

Posted by: Sandra at December 4, 2003 4:47 PM

Just think of it this way, A. Once you're done with all your gifts, it can be "all about you" and there will be NO guilt. :) Pretty scarf!

The Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran is really wonderful. It knits up beautifully (pics coming in the next couple of days) and is very nice to work with. Sharlene, I'm glad to hear that it wears well. Now I'm even more convinced that I have to get some!

Sandra, the yarn for the fluffy scarf is Berroco Plush (see previous entry for link to Berroco's site). I think it's very similar to the GGH Esprit, which I think you're using for a scarf project. I see them in the same bin together at my LYS.

The yarn addict would like to thank you for your support: a Plush sweater is definitely in the planning stages! ;)

The scarf is beautiful. Sheesh, I just want to snuggle up in it :)

I just used the cashmerino to make a tiny ruffle on a furry scarf. I just had to find a way to work it in, because I loved the texture and color of it so much. Now I have a whole bunch left to do something with... mmmmm.... yarn....

I'm tired of Xmas-deadline knitting, too. I've nearly finished the important gifts, though, so it's OK. Knitting should never feel like a chore! Horrors!

The Plush scarf looks so delectably squishy, Alison. If there are no colours that you'd like to wear, you should just knit up a big square of it that you can touch and rub on your face. :)

Wow, what a pretty scarf it turned out to be! Now you know you want one. Come on :-)

Is that one skein each of the blue and the purple? It looks so soft and cuddly.

Rita

Yes, Rita, one skein each. I knit the blue until it looked like I'd used about half the ball, then did about 2/3 a ball of purple and finished off the blue ball. Easy peasy!
