baby steps
Finally some decreases on the tiny-gauged, wrist-pain inducing baby sweater! I've started the slopes of the front panels and separated for the armholes. Now I've got a cool 130 stitches in three sections on the needle instead of 190 in one big piece. And it's starting to look like a baby sweater and not a blanket!

I really feel like I've got largest chunk of knitting behind me now. Each separate section and each sleeve should be doable in a sitting. And I'll be able to see the progress I've made right away. Now I remember the rewards of knitting baby items. Yeah, baby!

They are lovely colours together, I'm glad you've reached the point where you feel like you can see the progress. That's why I love baby projects, tiny, satisfying and quick!
Hi Alison,
Do you use wrist supports when you knit smaller gauges. I've found they really help me. I have 2 "ace bandage" brand wrap-arounds from the local grocery store. 190 is the same number of stitches I have on my chickami right now, and that's when I usually break out the wrist things! Lb
Good idea, Larissa. I have a wrist brace thing from when I used this yarn last time. But I think I learned my lesson on how long I can knit with this yarn at one sitting. I don't have any pain right now and am really taking baby steps with this sweater. Small periods knitting and then putting it down for days and knitting projects that feel more comfortable. But yours sounds like a very good rule!
That looks really tedious. Good job!
What a cute color combo for a baby sweater! What smooth knitting you produce...
Cute baby sweater. It will be gorgeous when you are done. You are right, taking your time with it should help. I almost started a Dale Baby Ull sweater for my hairdresser's new baby but after looking at the pattern and the yarn, I put it back in the stash. Instead, I returned to my trusted (I've made over 8) Plymouth Encore top down pattern on size 8's or 9's.
Another inch on Banff done, I am loving the Rowan Chunky yarn.
Aren't baby projects fantastic? I am afraid I have to be removed from the Banff knit along, I swatched tonight and the yarn did not agree with the pattern. Good luck!
