did someone say sale?

Yes, folks, it's that time of year again - the Winter Clearance Sale at one of my favorite yarn stores, Wild & Wooly in Lexington, MA. Love this store. Love this sale. Last year, I picked up the all seasons cotton for my first summer tank. That started my love affair with all seasons cotton and tanks. So this time I went in with hopes high for another great find. And I was not disappointed.

I arrived when they opened at 7am and scored some of the few available skeins of Rowan Felted Tweed. I've had a little crush on this yarn for a while and had been scoping out eBay hoping to find 5 skeins each in two different colors to knit aran sweaters for the boys. And there it was at the sale, waiting for me, in lovely shades of green and blue. I have a feeling this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

I predict that you will love the Felted Tweed! I can't believe you were there at 7am when the sale started. Well, actually I can belive it - I think I would have done the same. Great bargain. Did you get anything else?

You know what they say about relationships--just stop looking and the right one will find you. Lucky boys!

what a beauty..let us know how it knits up!

Oh yes ! You'll love it !
You can knit comfortably with it on needles from 3.25 mm - 4mm,and get nice fabric.I like the fabric I get on 3.5mm needles. And the yardage is fantastic.Musn't forget how warm yet light the garments are made from it - perfect for little boys [ and big mamas - I speak of myself here ! ].
Have you started yet ? A small swatch ?Perhaps a sleeve ?

I really like felted tweed. It's very soft and drapey. Do you have a particular pattern in mind?

hey...were you the woman holding the bags of Felted Tweed that I kept eyeing? I was hoping the bags were going to be put down so I could snag 'em. :-) I was there just after 7am and got 5 skeins of the green and 6 of the burgundy. I've never used this yarn before, but I'm thinking maybe a Lavold vest...

Hi Mary, probably was me. I really considered that burgundy color. Really! But I only needed 5 skeins and there were like 7 in the bag, right? I hope you love what you got. I think a Lavold vest is a great idea!

Emma, I'm pretty sure that once I start knitting, there will have to be some Felted Tweed for mommy too! I won't be starting anytime soon as my plate is overflowing with other projects right now and the boys are more than set with handknits for the season. I'm planning these for next winter.

And the pattern? A little Starmore, perhaps....

I'd like to join the Ponch-o-long if it isn't too late! I am still waiting for my pattern. But I have high hopes.

Early morning yarn acquisition! I can't think of a better way to start the day. Congratulations. I have two more things to add to my ripping pile-- one is a needle liberation project; the other is a cotton tank top which when finished made me look like... well let's just say it's a prime cadidiate for the frog pond. Can't wait!

I was so excited to see your felted yarn. A month ago I bought some on a lark. Being that I have not work with it yet I had no prior knowledge of it finer qualities. Now I am so excited to start knitting with it! Score!!

Oh, that stuff is awesome. My older bro and I's (did I word that right? I don't think so) x-mas gift to mom was to buy her some yarn of her choice and for me to teach her to knit- she picked out Felted Tweed. In the same "dragon" green color you picked. It's great stuff! :-)

How I miss Wild and Wooly! I still get their sale fliers even in NC. I will enjoy watching the sweaters progress.

Just think ~ it was this time last year that I picked up the pink Pingouin at Wild & Wooly , found your blog, and told you it was ME who bought what you left behind. :) Amazing!

The Rowan felted tweed was some of the first yarn I bought at a LYS (instead of the crafty chain stores). And then made my first hat with it, double-stranded. It is a really lovely yarn to work with and to wear.
Enjoy!
