I started teaching another beginning knitting class this week and thought that would be the perfect occassion to start a new little project. In order to demonstrate, you gotta be knitting something, right? And I couldn't really bring my big projects in to carry around, so...
This will be a neck warmer for me. After finishing the neck warmer for my aunt, my neck started feeling suspiciously cold. Hmmm... why not make a neck warmer for myself? I gotta be knitting something. Plus it'll make a nice follow-up pattern for my beginners for their leftover yarn.

Auuugh! They are SOOOO cute!
Little cute knitting boys..eeek!
:)
I'm going to have a smile on all day now, thanks :)
I was holding off teaching my 5 y/o lefty boy - I'm not sure why - I guess it's never too early! Thanks for the inspiration.
So cute! Of course, it was all that practice they picked up pre-natal...
They are cute pictures, Brooke holds the needles like a weapon sometimes, it makes Wayne very nervous to watch her with them.
What yarn is that you're using for the neckwarmer. It looks like some Sirdar denim that I have...
Start 'em early, girlie! :-)
Cute little kamikaze knitter!
No actual knitting yet. But it was the first time that they really wanted to hold the needles and I was impressed at how natural it looked. They've really been watching me! Of course, they were just tapping the ends together to make a little clicking noise. Stefan calls it "cut the net", which is from a Dora book that we have. He seems to think that net and knit are the same! Awwww.
Kerrie, the yarn is Phildar Polaire. Warm and fuzzy!
My 5 year old son really wants to learn how to knit. But he has ZERO patience. About two times a week he asks to work on our knitting. He's fine if I'm holding the needles with him and just doing all the knitting while he comes along for the ride but as soon as I let go he gets so frustrated. He yells, he growls, he's generally unbearable. It's not a fun process. Maybe when he's a little older.
oh alison! they look so cute! looks like you've got your own little factory started there, i expect twice as many FOs in 2004!!! :)
Your sons are probably a little too young but I highly recommend the Colonial Corker as an early knitting too. Easy for little hands to hold.
I love the "now that's more like it." He looks like a pro in that pic just clickin' away! haha!
How cute !
Oliver loves to "help" me knit - big needles,me knitting and him holding on. :0)
I love the look on their faces - like they're getting away with something..... Cute as heck!
Cute, cute, cute. I taught a couple of kids, six and seven years old, a couple of weeks ago. For me it's kinda scary as I haven't been around young'uns very much for the past twenty years. But we had a good time.
I'm happy to hear you like teaching knitting. I find it not only rewarding but exciting. I love it when someone just gets it, which happens fairly often, and I feel so terrible when someone is having a hard time with the concept. I had those two extremes just yesterday. And lots of folks in between.
I also wanted to let you know I've completed the poncho and posted photos on my blog. So could you just make me brown?
