rip-along warm up

If you recall, I put my mother's fandango vest aside when the first panel came out too short. I needed to rip back to the armholes and add several inches. I got discouraged and then along came the holiday crunch and sent the fandango to the back burner. Rip-a-long to the rescue! I pulled it out again yesterday, so I could rip it back to kick off the rip-along.

Before.

During.

After.

That felt good.

Alright, rip-alongers, the rip-along is ON! Ivete has already ripped out her ribby (mine's up tomorrow!). Carol ripped out her felted bag (yes, felted!). And Knitsmith Carrie has enough projects to rip one every day this week. Oh yeah, it's a week long frog-a-thon. Try to have fun and be sure to share some pictures!

Oooh, thanks for the reminder. I need to try on my leg-o-chic before I go too much farther -- if it isn't sized right, rip it goes!

I couldn't wait! When I got home Friday night I got thinking about all those projects ripe for ripping... ball winder was conveniently out and clamped to an immovable object and next thing I knew, languishing projects were in my hands. Half-done things rapidly being converted back into stash. Wish I had a digital camera! Boy it felt *GREAT*. Pink alpaca sweater is now handsome balls of yarn; birch grey shetland shawl ditto. Green handspun vest is entirely gone, but is already becoming a hat! I liked the yarn so much I couldn't wait to cast on again. Thanks for hosting this Alison-- I hope to get to my other two things soon.
ps. Your boys are darling in the knitting pictures!

may I frog too? I've got a bunch of things that need to be repurposed!

Oh boy, I think this is a fever...yes, I started ripping the sock/glove, but only down to the cuff. I consider that only a mini-rip; the big project, yes the RS, will be tomorrow night. If I can dig it out of the bottom of my stash. Stay tuned!

I'm taking the Banff plunge! I've ordered my Manos, so I'll be joining the knitalong and starting as soon as it arrives!

Okay, Cindylou, let me know if you join us in the frogging! Go, Carrie!! Go, Dava!! Renee, rip away. I've added you to the list and will be eagerly awaiting pics on your blog.

Erica, I've added you to the Banff list. Manos sounds great for that sweater. That's what both Jessica and Larissa are using, I think. Enjoy the anticipation!

I'll rip my Venus tank tomorrow. I'll make sure I have pictures to share.

I'm dying to find out how the felted bag ripped up- please may I see a picture? :-)

Posted by: Sarah Elizabeth at January 13, 2004 6:50 PM

Sarah Elizabeth, Carol said that her felted bag ripping went fairly well. Alas, she doesn't have a digital camera and couldn't photograph the actual ripping. But she'll try to send a picture of the new project she makes with the yarn. She's looking at patterns that call for felting. I'm also really curious to see how it turns out. Amazing that she took the plunge with a failed felted project. Go, Carol!!

Carol, any details to share??
