it's a spring thing

With the mild weather we had last week, all this talk of fun summer knitting to come and seeing those pretty little flowsies on my Daisy cardigan, I am really getting in the mood for spring! I can't wait to get these last few winter projects off my needles and on my back so I can get started on some spring things! To this end, I'm declaring an early start to spring here at the blue blog. By March 15, I will finish blue, chickie and the sweatpants and cast on for at least two new, springlike projects! Wanna join me?

Got a spring-y project you're looking forward to starting? Maybe some colorful socks or a lacy cardigan, a sassy little top or a soft frilly sweater. Florescent stripes? Intarsia flowers? Eyeing some eyelets? Ready to dive into your cotton stash? Come on, it's a Spring Fling!

I do! I do! I have a cap-sleeved top on the needles (5" to finish) and another to follow -- in hot pink Berrocco 'Cotton Ease' -- so count me in! :-)

What perfect motivation to plug away at my Broadripple socks in lime green Fixation. Socks = spring, so count me in!

I have been thinking of starting another little phildar cotton tank for Becky so please count me in. :)

Me too!!!! I won't finish my Must Have Cardigan (I am only about 6 inches into the back) or my Whitby Gansey (haven't touched it in months) but I will finish up the scarf I am making for my mother (she wanted a peach fuzzy scarf) and I will sew the buttons on the cardigan I finished for her last week. The Must Have doesn't have to be done till November (the nieces birthday) or Xmas at the latest and the Whitby is for me and I am in no hurry and will probably bring it to my parents cottage and work on it sporadically over the summer.

I spent some time yesterday at the yarn shop trying to find a pattern to go with some cotton yarn I have. Hmmm, no ideas yet but I will have one set and ready to start by the 15th.

I have a spring project I'm about to start--the Shapely Tank from White Lies Designs. I'm planning on doing a knitalong for it so I don't know if it would count (double-dipping and all). I also want to make a Bottoms Up! BOC in Mission Falls Cotton. I need to go get the (ack!) 3 pairs of needles for the project.

I'm in for the spring-along. I am so itching to start and all my yarn purchases have been cotton but I have a couple of winter things to get off the needles first.

I've never done anything -along, but this sounds fun! I've got some bright, self-striping (yellow, pink, blue, and green) on the needles, and I just started a cotton top for summer!

Oops- I forgot to write socks after bright, self-striping!

I'm in for the spring-along, too. I've got yarn on the way for the Aztec Sun Vest in the spring IK. I won't be finished with two big ole' winter projects, but I'll keep plugging away on them, too.

I have a sort-of spring thing almost finished already. It's a striped raglan baby cardigan in Paton's Grace. The stripes are purple, white and lime green, and I found the cutest heart-shaped buttons that match the lime and purple.

Yes! I just got some great bright pink mohair that I'm going to make into a light and airy sweater... kind of like the "To Dye For" sweater in Deb Stoller's book. this'll be perfect! First I must finish my winter scarf, but that shouldn't take too long.

Cool projects, gals! Thanks for joining. I'm so excited about spring flinging next week! Been swatching.... :)

I have a few springy things in progress and in the hopper. One is the little black top in Stitch & Bitch that I am 1/2 way finished with. The other is a Rowan tank that I want to make with some pretty red Calmer yarn - so count me in too!

Great, I just bought some cotton to do the Eyelet Skirt from Knitty Summer 2003

Posted by: Jackie at March 8, 2004 12:12 AM

sign me up! I'm going to combine knitalongs and do the spring fling along with the spring knit up to clear some of the cotton from my stash.

Posted by: kerrie at March 8, 2004 4:33 AM

please sign me up, alison. it'll motivate me to work on it AND finish. i'm looking for a dress pattern to make for my niece;)

Count me in, too! I've got some Eros scarves I want to breeze through for Spring before I get back to my Pink Flutterby... :D

Count me in - it's good encouragement for me to finish the Cotton Twist tank I started last year! Man - I always seem to be one season off... LOL...

Sign me up! Details to follow...

Okay, I'll throw my needles into the ring. I'm already working on Broadripple socks, also in Lime Green. I'm still in the midst of late winter Rogue, but I have plane ride coming up, and socks are the thing!

Posted by: Julia at March 8, 2004 9:40 PM

Oh yes, please sign me on up, I have a bag of Euroflax that's crying out to be a spring sweater.

Posted by: Mindy at March 9, 2004 9:18 AM

Um Hey! How did I miss this? I think I qualify with Smooch ... and my plans for the lacy ballet neck cardi in the Spring IK, right? I've got tank fever actually... I should join I think! Add me, add me! :D

Posted by: Alysia at March 9, 2004 11:30 AM

I'd like to participate too! I can't decide between the spring-y colored socks or a flower-y baby sweater I have in my "to do" list...maybe I'll do both, lol!

Posted by: Amy at March 9, 2004 2:43 PM

The catchy button caught my eye and I am so itching for spring!!! I *just* started knitting Zoe Mellor's Lacy Sweater with flower motif in Handknit cotton for my little one. Please count me in for a spring fling!

Posted by: Tiffany M at March 9, 2004 2:52 PM

sign me up! I can lump some of my knit alongs under this heading and justify my other projects that i want to do!

I'm hoping to get to the Shapely Tank before summer... being 8 1/2 months pregnant at the moment (and who knows what size I'll need afterwards), it's not on the top of my priorities, but this will give me incentive to start roaming for an appropriate yarn.

Posted by: Shannon at March 9, 2004 10:40 PM

Great timing - I just ran off the shapely T from White Lies and was debating. This just pushed me over the fence and now I have an excuse to buy some yarn for it - add my name to list.

Posted by: lillium at March 10, 2004 9:21 AM

put me in the spring fling. i have a ribbed tank in cotton classic, another shell in berroco luxe, and a lacy eyelet pullover in Valeria di Roma Capri all on the needles. Next is the little black top from Stitch 'n Bitch. Shhhhhhh....let's not bring up the spring UFOs from last year! LOL

Posted by: deb at March 12, 2004 11:21 PM

Hope I am not too late to join the Spring Fling! Thanks!
