spring has sprung

Are you flinging? I sure am!

Swatches for four, count 'em, four spring projects! The first (top) is some lovely Rowan summer tweed I'm considering for the Knitsmith's Knitalong of this fabulous cardigan from the latest Rebecca magazine (Silvia's already started this one - check it out!). Then, to the left, there's Rowan linen drape for this Vintage Knits lace top. Next (bottom) is Phildar plaisance and licorne for the delightfully colorful cardi raye. And finally, there's a little something fluffy for my own spring fling. Not quite sure yet exactly what I'm making with this GGH Esprit yarn, but I'm loving it already!

So flingers, anything on the needles yet out there? I declare spring officially sprung in blogland!

Woo Hoo - spring is sprung. So does that mean the weather is about to get warmer? I've got a couple of spring flings on the needles, patchwork blanket, cotton poncho / wrap and Koigu shawl. How's that for flinging?

Yay, Kerrie's flinging!

A disclaimer: I can only declare open season on spring knits. I have no control over the weather (as proven by the snow storm coming our way this week)!

Ah, that explains this insatiable urge to knit up my new cottons from Elann.com! I have my Chatelaine 'pop-on' on the needles -- in Berroco Cotton Ease -- almost at the armholes on the back. Last night at bed-time I cast on for a lovely blue 'Sonata' tunic - "Sally's Favourite Summer Sweater" from The Knit Stitch. Delightful! And anything to keep the forecast rain from turning to snow...

Add me to the fling. I'm waiting for my classic elite imagine to make the faux mandarin cardi from the lastest IK.

Though I'm rather tempted by the Phildar cardi you're starting...(blogs are so bad for temptation).

I would love to know what you're doing with Esprit. I have an unfinished Villa sitting in my basket and I'm so ready to frog it. I was thinking that Esprit might work as a substitute for some sweaters I saw in a fall Phildar.

Hi Alison, Can you add me to the fling too? I've just started "Ballet Neck Twinset" from the latest IK, and will be adding "Little Black Top" from S'nB as well. I love the Rebecca cardy... might have to consider that as well!

Posted by: Sharlene at March 16, 2004 10:35 AM

Alison, what number of Rebecca is that cardigan in? I love it! Your color palette and pattern choices are excellent. Happy Spring!!

Now that the No-Sweats are done I've cast on for my Shapely Tank Knitalong. I'll cast on for a BUP! BOC in Mission Falls Cotton in a few days when I free up the needles.

Such tempting projects! I must resist starting anything new...well, besides the pretty Opal Lollipop socks I started for the Spring Fling. :)

Have fun with that Cardi Raye! It is such a fun knit and, when knitted in public, garners a lot of attention.

I'm very curious to see what you will do with that fluffy yarn as well. It looks like a yummy material.

I'm also waiting for yarn to make the faux mandarin cardi but I have the first Summer Tweed dress for my twin girls on the needles. It's snowing outside! Boo hoo!

Oooh Alison you are tempting me. I have the linen drape and the pattern for that Rowan vintage lace top. It's been waiting for over a year for me to knit. I even have the same color you have :)

I may have to join you...Or maybe I'll wait until the *summer* fling :)

Well, does the nearly-finished front of my Cotton Twist tank from last summer count, LOL...actually I did start a little on a Springie-style handkerchief-style top for my goddaughter out of some Cotton Tots (Bernat) in minty green!

Ummm...would a black worsted weight Everyday Cardigan in Peace Fleece count? It's on its way...

I will be finishing up the Patons Blue Denim Look sweater before I officially start the Spring Fling. I do plan on swatching the cotton I have for a Just One More Row lace cardigan as my Spring Fling project. Plus, I picked up 2 more skeins of CottonEase I needed to make Tricot for my niece.

Your swatches are very nice, love all the pretty spring colors.

holy Kaffe, alison!
tell me, when do you have time for all your knitting. I have only *one* little guy, and I don't cover nearly the ground you do. I even let him watch an extra half hour of Noggin so I can get a few more rows in!

I love the summer tweed! I was at W&W yesterday and had a hard time choosing between that and some Silky Wool for two sirening new projects, and gave in to the SW, but only because I didn't want to wait for what would have to be a special order of my favorite color.

Ancient cotton Rowan cardigan will have to wait another couple of months.

What do you all think of summer tweed? How does is wear? Can anyone recommend some cottons that are good for children's sweaters? it doesn't have to be machine washable - I just can't stand too much pilling and sagging! Any ideas?

Okay, you got me - sign me up for the Spring Fling.

Currently flinging a tri-corner spring baby hat in pink GGH Esprit (more Purim than Patrick) and am waiting on delivery of yarn for 2 tanks (Cascade Fixation and Filati FF Shine) and 1 shrug (Araucania Nature Cotton). The Autumn shrug is done! Hope to have pix up tonight.

Count me in, too! I have a blue cotton shawl for me and a cotton sweater for my daughter- both in lace- on the needles, and I'm trying to decide which UFO from last year (or the year before..) I want to pull out.
