a green thing

Just right for St. Patrick's Day. But what will it be? Dunno yet. Hmmm.... a green thing.

A corned-beef cozy?
Leprechaun leg warmers?
A trefoil mitten to make your fingers look like a shamrock?
A "Guiness A-Go-Go" like Mariko's? Gotta keep that pint at room temp ya' know.

Oooh, I like your suggestions, Julia! Much better than anything I had in mind. :)

What a pretty color and texture. What yarn is it?

I have been enjoying your website since the end of Jan when I had surgery. Out on medical leave until last week, I spent my mornings reading your blog and admiring your beautiful knitting...and that of your "friends".
I love to knit but never find the time to tackle any big (sweaters) projects. My husband keeps saying "Another scarf?" Each day I asked myself "How does she find the time??" You must knit at the speed of light.
Anyway, thank you for sharing your beauties and for inspiring others.

ooh - that looks interesting. Is it Phildar Neige? Looks all soft and fluffy like. I'm not even going to guess at what it might be..

Hint: this is my spring fling project and the yarn is the GGH Esprit yarn that I showed the swatch for yesterday. I'm just sort of knitting around with it and am not really sure what sort of top I'm making yet. I'll work out the details when I get there.

Whatever it ends up being, it looks comfy!

I'm so impressed by all of your projects. All I can say is WOW! I'm definitely adding you to my list of blogs to read daily!

I knew it! GGH Esprit is my most favoritest yarn in the world. I made about 5 scarves out of it last during the Fall/Winter and gave 4 away as Christmas presents. My LYS cannot keep it in stock, it's so popular. Pretty green color!

Oooh...looks like Plush...

Heh - I actually started a free pattern to put on my website that will be a Guinness cozy -- it's just that Ii couldn't finish it in time and finish my mom's sweater at the same time!!!

I'll post it when I'm done with it anyway!

A halter! A halter! Make it into a halter!

Posted by: Becky at March 18, 2004 1:40 AM

Nice green blob you have there, Miss Alison!

That yarn looks *ALOT* like Berocco's plush. Have you ever seen plush? I have never seen Esprit in a store before but I am wondering what the difference between the two of them would be and if there is a big price difference between the two...hmmmm...questions my mind asks...

Posted by: Jenn at March 18, 2004 7:54 AM

A halter - now there's a fun idea! Not in this yarn though I think. But you can be sure that I'll be looking through my stash for some halter worthy yarn later today! Thanks for the cool idea, Becky!

Jenn, the Esprit and the Plush are very similar. My LYS has them in the same basket and it's impossible to sort them out without looking at the label. The prices are very similar as well, so no big savings with the Berroco or anything. Plus, I really like the Esprit colors better. The Plush seems to have mostly bright, kiddie colors, whereas the Esprit has more subdued tones like this green I'm using. I'm sure you can find Esprit online somewhere and check out the color card.

Happy fluffy knitting!

i've used both plush and esprit and they are very similar. i think the price is pretty similar as well. i can tell you specifics when i'm at home (but i'll post this now to hopefully remind me to look when i'm there!)

In the ol' country, lassy, slightly chilled is room temperature!

Hey Barbara, I tried sending you this email but it bounced back. Thanks so much for leaving such a nice message. The yarn is GGH Esprit.
It's 100% nylon and is so soft and fluffy. I've made some scarves out of it in the past and they feel wonderful against the skin. You should try
moving on from scarves though, you can do it! Pick something small - short sleeves or a sleeveless tank maybe? Happy Knitting! --Alison
