spring green

So I started the armholes and sleeves of the spring fling top and went to slip it on to be sure I'd gotten the fit right, and gosh darnit if it didn't look cute as a tank. So I finished it up and wrote up the pattern to share the fluffy goodness.

I've got lots of yarn left over and still plan on making a version with sleeves and collar of some sort, but hubby liked the tank so much, I had to do it. And as a tank, I can really enjoy how soft the Esprit yarn is against the skin. It feels fabulous on. Even if you don't make a tank, you all have got to make yourselves something fabulous with this yarn. 'Cause it's spring and we're worth it!

Check you out with your green fluffiness! That is so cute and I have been dying to make something from Esprit. I just want to make a nest out of it and hunker down. Please show us some more detailed photos. Great job.

Quite the lovely tank. Sadly, I don't think it'd look so hot on me...

hi there, just browsing around knitting blogs even though I don't have time for my own yet. I hope to get on that soon. ANYWAY, I saw your cute cute green tank! Gorgeous! I'm thinking about following your pattern and making one myself. Question though: the neckline looks slightly loose for me. Does it flop open when you lean over or does it fit snug enough?

Ooooh, sexy, sexy! You're going to stop traffic in that cute and fluffy tank. I love it. Thanks so much for sharing the pattern!

Oooh - I love that tank. It looks so fluffy and soft and stylish. Now where can I get my hands on some of that yarn?

Posted by: kerrie at March 24, 2004 2:24 AM

Love it! I love that yarn. It’s so soft and fluffy. And a big THANKS for the pattern. I will definitely be knitting that tank. Didn't realize that it only takes 3 balls.

Looks great!

Love the shaping on that! Inspiration to get in shape for sure. Thanks for the pattern!

WOW!!! Ok, girly girl, I'm making one! And just think, no "sparkle shit" necessary! (Yep. Still laughin' about that one. Doesn't take much.)

Tank looks great! Love the thought process, "gosh darnit if it didn't look cute..." Is that what they mean when people say the yarn speaks to them? I am swatching today for my spring fling top for my daughter. yea.

Posted by: Kathleen at March 24, 2004 8:08 AM

that turned out great! what fun!

Posted by: carolyn at March 24, 2004 8:14 AM

And just as I was surfing for my next project!!! Perfect. It looks so adorable on you. Off to the LYS to find me some Esprit.

I have finished my Spring Fling. Will post some pics on my site soon.

Who says it isn't easy being green? That is the sweetest tank I ever did see. Thanks for sharing the pattern!

Posted by: Mindy at March 24, 2004 9:06 AM

Your green tank is so springy -- it could be used as a table center piece with some bunnies sitting in the green grass! Sorry to be silly but it is the kind of tank that makes ya happy.

Posted by: Nora at March 24, 2004 9:18 AM

Hey that tank is cute!! I love the fluffy green and the wide straps! Cool!

Posted by: Libby at March 24, 2004 9:22 AM

Adorable! Thanks for posting the pattern. It turns out that I knitted Villa in Relax and not Esprit but I'm sure it will be easy to use it as a sub. for your pattern.

I can't believe you! another garment done. (does your house have infinitely expanding closets or do you have a magic wardrobe?!!) It looks fabulous! Hope it gets warm enough soon that you can show it off outside. Love the neckline.

LOVE it, Alison! It's a slippery slope for this knitter who gave up yarn acquisition for Lent yet intends to make the grand opening of Knit Happens this weekend. If they've got Esprit, I'm buying ~ special occasion and all. Thanks for the swell pattern!

Looove it! So cute as a tank, glad you stopped there. Might have to add it to my someday I wanna knit list :)

Great yarn and style! I think I too will knit it!
Thanks for posting the pattern. :)

Looks lovely. I've been reading here for a bit over a month, and I have to say that considering how fabulous all of your creations look on you, I am reminded of a comment I read once about Halle Berry. It said that designers fight over who gets to clothe her at high profile functions, because she makes their clothes look so good. I think you and her have something in common, girl. Fabulous.

Posted by: LauraA at March 24, 2004 11:36 AM

Tank girl returns! Now I know it must be spring. It fits beautifully and looks great.

Posted by: michelle at March 24, 2004 11:50 AM

Your tank came out great. I will have to check out that yarn the next time I see it.

Posted by: Suzanne at March 24, 2004 12:08 PM

Absolutely fab !
That's a rather sexy fluffy little top.

Posted by: Emma at March 24, 2004 12:56 PM

Yeah I'll be the Mr. liked it! Very snazzy, now go get a spring skirt with ribbon trim and kitten heel shoes. You can just pretend it's warm...

Posted by: Silvia at March 24, 2004 1:13 PM

Oh my gosh, it IS cute as a tank! And guess what? I HAVE SOME ESPRIT IN MY STASH!! Whoo hooo!

Posted by: Karen Heinig at March 24, 2004 3:21 PM

GASP! Wow! You are finished! And you call ME fast??!! I love the color! and the fuzziness! I will now have to put this on the everlasting yarn list!
Now, all we need is spring!
Spring Fling on!

Your spring green is spectacular! Another envelope is on it's way, which I hope will make your day! Have a good one!

That is a great shirt. Wise choice to stop at a tank.

Posted by: Christina at March 25, 2004 1:17 PM

Cuuute! And thanks for the pattern ~ I've been wanting a fluffy little tank ~ must check out that yarn now - like I *need* more yarn - ugh. ;)

Posted by: Alysia at March 25, 2004 6:08 PM

Thanks everyone! I love wearing this tank. The yarn feels so great. If it were a bit cheaper, I'd consider make another pair of those crazy sweatpants with it! :)

Posted by: alison at March 25, 2004 6:11 PM

I have a blanket's worth of Gedifra Event--a dead ringer for Esprit--that I've decided not to make a blanket out of, and now I know what to do with it! It looks great, and I know how cozy it must be!

Posted by: J Strizzy at March 25, 2004 7:34 PM

cute top! what size is it?

Posted by: Sandra at March 26, 2004 10:04 AM

Just fabulous! I love the tank, I love the color, I love the fuzzyness. I hope I get my tank done soon and it fits me! LOL, since it's my first real project. Great job with this tank!
