kid tested, mother approved

Finished the little giraffe toy over the weekend.

I showed it to the boys before I wrapped it up for my friends' baby shower. Had to make sure it was recognizable to kids, you know.

They're saying "giwaffe!"

Mom- and Dad-to-be liked it too. So it was a great success all around!

What cuties!! (Both boys and giraffe!) :-)

ditto.
I just love the face and the horns and the ears and the spots and the happy smiles on the boys and. . .well, I'm just full of love today. Maybe I should tone it down a bit and go watch the news.

So that's what you've been making...
Very cute!

It's really adorable. It's now resting in the crib awaiting our new arrival! Thanks for such a lovely gift. We really love it :-)

awwwwww! cute giwaffe! even cute boys!!

hey, you've got me wanting to make that little pink elephant in the newest Pitchoun...

Posted by: Leigh at June 2, 2004 1:04 PM

His little ears and horns make the whole thing even more adorable. The colors are nice too. It looks like one of your boys is trying to yank its head off though. heh.

So adorable! Looks like you have to make a couple more. ;)

Very cute giwaffe. I want one & I have a great idea: Since the pattern's out of print & I don't have a copy of one, you can make me one. No, not a copy of the pattern. A giwaffe!

Actually, I'm surprised the boys would part with it. I sure as heck wouldn't have! Great job, as always. I really like the color combo.

yeah, what they said! very very cute!

Thanks everyone! Matthew, I'm so glad you like him. Hope the little one does too. :)

Leigh, that little elephant is so cute. You got anyone to make it for?

Jenn, Benny got very excited saying 'giwaffe' for me. He loves to say things really loud in an affected deep voice. He's so silly. But he was actually being very gentle with the giraffe. Here's a picture where he's not shouting - see.

Sweetest photos EVER. The toy ain't half-bad, either ;-)

How about a couple more for your boys? Or, maybe a couple of other animals?

Do I predict two more giwaffes in the near future? Or can you distract them with a wonderful bought toy so you can get to business and knit something for yourself! heehee!
:)

Those are the most enthusiastic photos I've ever seen. Such energy! So cute!

That little gee-waff (what they got called at my house) is cute as a button.

Love the boys and stuffed giraffes! You are an inspiration -- was the project a quick, weekend-type project?

That is too cute!
By the way, I've finished my Spring Fling project!

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. For those of you interested in the pattern, it's from Phildar's Tricotez Calin #2 (spring/summer 2002). It's an out of print Phildar book. Perhaps you could still find it in some Phildar stores in France or Candian shops that carry Phildar yarn (like www.knitntyme.com). I'm sorry that I can't copy the pattern for you. Even though it's out of print, I don't have the right to reproduce it. But it would be easy enough to make on your own. The shape is clear to see and you can put stripes and spots wherever you like. Also Julia has written up some suggestions for converting a Fiber Trends pattern from a llama to a giraffe. Check that out!

Leslie, with all the duplicate stitch and seaming, it did take longer than a weekend. But it was a fun project!

Tooo cute. I have to check out the llama to giraffe link.
