I'm a glass slipper
Don't know how many of you out there have, like me, been subjected to one too many viewings of the Blue's Clues "Love Day" episode. All the clues are related to Cinderella. And since Joe has stopped drawing the clues, they draw themselves and sing what they are. This all means that I have been walking around the house for a week singing "I'm a glass slipper." (Much more catchy than the first clue: "I'm a mop.")
Well, I'm no Cinderella, but I do have a slipper.

One crochet slipper almost done. I've still got do a crochet edging around the opening. More crochet - surprise, surprise. I'm enjoying the crochet, though, and I like this pattern a lot. The only change I made was to shorten the front of the slipper, making the opening wider. This is my attempt to eek out two slippers with only 3 1/2 skeins (and not 4) of the Handknit DK called for. As usual the color I have has been discontinued. Surprise, surprise.
Can you hear it? "I'm a crochet slipper."

Let me know the shade number and dyelot, I have some Handknit dk that looks similar - perhaps I can help! (I've been singing "I know you, I danced with you once upon a dream" from Sleeping Beauty all week, the things these children do to us!)
I'm sitting here laughing out loud because "I'm a mop swish, swish. And I'm a castle.." is now going through my head. Ack! We had that show Tivoed and saved it for about a month before I said it had to go. Now it's Blue's Clues Bluestock. I have that crochet book and I keep saying that I'm going to crochet SOMETHING one of these days. Ah, one of these days....
looks fab...erika knight would be proud...why don't you crochet the edge with a contrasting yarn...and a little crochet flower on the top (in the contrasting color) might be just the thing and will conserve the precious main color...was it really as easy as you make it sound? i'll give it a shot.
I have to admit that while I TiVo Blue's Clues... I only keep the Steve ones :-) (now, I do have the CD "Blue's Big Treasure Hunt" going through my head - is that close enough?)
so lovely slipper! I've just ordered the book from the library :)
but... where can one get the pattern for the cute giwaffe? I know a little girl who would love one, and I don't trust my own abilities eenough to try and make one out of the blue ;)
I love that slipper. It looks like something out of a vintage mag (which is one of my favorite things of all time). I expect a matching bedjacket next, missy!
Oh how fantastic!!!! I have that book on my birthday list now because of viewing your blog and actually seeing someone attempt those slippers!!!
They're wery cozy looking!!! ^_^
Don't worry, you should have enough yarn. I've made those slippers in both sizes and never used more than 3 skeins on the project.
Oh neat! I just got this book from the library and thought that slipper was so cute! Yours is too!
The slipper looks great! I just got that book and can't decide what to make first.
oh, I love that song and the dora map one too (I'm a dork)
nice slipper too! hey, when are you starting Blue Blog Crochets? :)
I love the slipper, and I love the giraffe, too. :)
I love the slipper!! It looks so comfortable and pretty. What book did you get the pattern out of? I would love to try to make this slipper too!!
I cannot believe my tired eyes! You've succumbed to the hook!
I know Kerstin, I can hardly believe it myself!
Sandy, the pattern is from Erika Knight's Simple Crochet. It's a great book for a beginning crocheter. Lovely patterns and true to the title, they are simple to make.
I gotta get that book. You are blazing through with the crochet. I have to give it another go. Love that slipper and I have some extra handknit dk that would be perfect.
While browsing through Chapter 11 today, what should I spy but "Simple Crochet." Did I buy it - of course! Love the slippers, and about a dozen other things, too. I haven't crocheted since (I hate to admit) 1974, when I made a really ugly 1970's avocado green all-acrylic pillow top. Ick! I know the Turkish slippers will be much nicer. Your's are lovely.
I love the slipper. It is my absolute favorite piece of handmade footwear ever! The color is so classic and the design so simple. I wish I could relate to the Blue's Clues thing, but alas, childless. However, I adore the giraffe! He's precious.
