bear-y good
The guys from Threadbear Fiber Arts Studio rule! They just got some Phildar Onde in and you know I had to get some. After seeing Theresa's incredible sweater in the chlorophyll colorway, I was sold. And if Rob & Matt are going to make it so easy to get the yarn, well, what'da gonna do?

And guess what arrived the very same day? A gift certificate from Sarah, my secret pal for more goodies at Threadbear. Life is good. Bear-y good.

fade
Where is it listed on their website? And what are you gonna make with it?
Dava, the phildar stuff is listed in this post on Rob's blog. Newer posts have lots of info and pics of what they have in stock. Sounds like the Onde is going fast!
Alison, Cardi Raye is fabulous. Nice job!
Ok, this is going to sound like a ridiculous question, but how does the Onde work? I thought it was one skein with the shading changes, but with your picture, it looks as if it's smaller balls? I haven't seen it in person, so I don't know what to think about it. Thanks! PS- Love reading your blog and seeing all of the fabulous things you have been churning out. I don't know how you do it, your needles must smoke! :)
Hi Cathi, the Onde comes in 100g balls that start one color (green, pink, yellow, whatever) and fade to another (usually white). Then there are 50g balls of the lighter color (again, usually white) that you buy to finish off the top of whatever piece you're making. So the amount of fade is fixed in the 100g balls, which means if your piece is narrower (a baby sweater, for example), the sweater itself will have much more of the darker color and very little of the lighter at the top. And alternately if your piece is wide (adult sweater or something done in the round) the gradual fade could be over by the waist and you'd need more of the 50g balls to do the top of the piece. Got it?!
