orange bliss

Okay, a couple of people have asked for specifics on my new orange scarf so here's the "411".

Yarn: 2 balls Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Superchunky
Needles: US11
Finished Measurements: approx. 45" long x 5" wide (unblocked ribbing)

Cast on 22 stitches. Work in 2x2 rib, beginning and ending first row with K2. Continue in rib until you have about 3 feet of yarn left. Bind off loosely in rib. Weave in ends.

This scarf is so soft! I must have rubbed a dozen or so skeins of yarn against my neck to find one I'd really enjoy wearing in a scarf. I picked up Karabella Aurora Bulky, Rowan Polar, Reynolds Blizzard, Cascade 220 superwash, all in fabulous oranges, and Rowan Big Wool and Brown Sheep Burly Spun in neutrals. They all failed the neck test. The only things I found that were softer that the DB Cashmerino were Aiko Cashmere and Cape Cod kettle dyed cashmere. Both felt incredible and were in the perfect orange. Luckily I'd already bought the Cashmerino, otherwise I'd have been walking all the way back to Boston. In my $200 scarf!

How funny, I just picked up some of that same orange (in aran weight) this weekend, to make myself some wristwarmers. It was the only yarn in the store that felt soft enough against the wrist, and I needed an orange fix.:-)

So orange! What's not to like?

Ooo, like a sunset cloud. Heavenly! And I like the idea (which I plan to steal) of matching it to the lining of your jacket.

i'm working on a baby sweater in debbie bliss cashmerino aran and i am totally head-over-heels for it. after i do a few rows i inevitably end up rubbing it against my cheek. i've heard the yarn gets a little pilly though.

oh soooo nice - in fact I went straight off and looked for some of that yarn for myself. Its the cashmerino aran though, isnt it? - not the superchunky?

I just got a whole bunch of that same orange superchunky on sale...going to use it for a Rowan Plaid Collection pattern to be determined...it *is* the perfect orange, LOL

This just might be what I'm looking for. I want to make my brother a scarf and I'd like it to be soft and not scratchy.
I'll write him to ask if he hapens to be allergic...as he is allergic to so many things...if he gives me the okay...I'll break my yarn diet for this. (I owe him a bday gift from July when he insisted he didn't want anything and with the season coming up and him living in Lodnon well he could use a scarf).
