Aaarghhhh this just keeps getting better. My 5 years of german in school might finally come in useful. Guess it would be expencive though, shipping them all the way over here... your postage budget must decide if I'm allowed to participate...

Helene :)

Posted by: Helene at November 29, 2004 9:06 AM

... and if you want to split them up I'm especially interested in the "kinder" mags...

Posted by: Helene at November 29, 2004 9:09 AM

You are one lucky duck!! Your magazines are very tempting. I'd love to curl up on the couch and leaf through all of them!!

Posted by: Bonney at November 29, 2004 9:22 AM

Ooh..."Kinder" mags...just what I need for my daughter.

Posted by: Natalie at November 29, 2004 9:29 AM

Wow ... this raffle has brought me out of lurking! What wonderful things. I really enjoy reading your site and hope you have a wonderful holiday season.

Posted by: Kristin at November 29, 2004 9:42 AM

ooh this is great : )

Posted by: Peggy at November 29, 2004 9:51 AM

Hmm . . . my sister's German abilities could come in handy . . . The magazines look cool!

Posted by: Natalie N at November 29, 2004 9:52 AM

Ich liebe deutsche Zeitschriften!! I was a German minor in college and rarely get to stretch my abilities. What would be a better way than German knitting magazines!

Posted by: Amanda at November 29, 2004 10:23 AM

this would stretch my german abilities! but what fun that would be!

Posted by: marti at November 29, 2004 10:27 AM

My mother-in-law is from Bochum, Germany. Working on translating these would be a great mother-daughter bonding project...

Posted by: Amy Lu at November 29, 2004 10:32 AM

Okay, so I don't know ANY German, but I love looking through patterns so count me in! P.S. thanks for your note re:Phildar, of course I didn't realize that you had that info on your blog already!

I love your blogs, especially also your descriptions of travels to Oma and Opa. I am from Germany myself, but live in the US now. I have two boys (3 and 6). It would be great to have German knitting magazines!

Posted by: Elisabeth at November 29, 2004 10:52 AM

I think I know enough German to get by.

Posted by: Jackie at November 29, 2004 11:05 AM

European knitting magazines that won't send me running to babelfish for wonky translations! Toll!

Posted by: Brynne at November 29, 2004 11:12 AM

Ooh, my husband speaks German and I speak a little.
And my Weasley is done!

Posted by: Katie at November 29, 2004 11:15 AM

I love knitting magazines no matter what the language!

Posted by: Stacey at November 29, 2004 11:20 AM

Its so great to see someone who updates nearly everyday!

I love you blog....

Posted by: Angie at November 29, 2004 11:28 AM

Ooooh, here's crossing my fingers that I'm the lucky one on this raffle. Is there anything better than German knitting mags? (That's a rhetorical question.)

Posted by: Susan at November 29, 2004 11:29 AM

I've been meaning to brush up on my German. This might be the incentive I need. And since I can already knit in French...heh heh. Count me in!

Posted by: Holly at November 29, 2004 11:41 AM

ach du lieber! i've been meaning to work on my german for years, now...

Posted by: wendy, the fearless pedestrian at November 29, 2004 11:56 AM

I'd be happy to split this with someone -- I'll send them the Kinder ones, and I'll keep the adult patterns! Thanks for doing this raffle, it's going to be fun!

Posted by: kristi at November 29, 2004 12:01 PM

My first language was German (Unfortunately, I don't speak it anymore). Maybe winning one of these magazines would put me back on track.

Posted by: Diane at November 29, 2004 12:20 PM

I am from Germany, live now in Canada and have three kids. I read your blog every day and love it! Thank you so much!

Posted by: Ellen at November 29, 2004 12:45 PM

I can't translate German but it will give my retired father-in-law something to do! They look great! Thanks for the giving spirit!

Posted by: Jane at November 29, 2004 1:00 PM

Thanks for being so generous.

Posted by: Emily at November 29, 2004 1:12 PM

Thanks for the contest!

Christmas early! I would love to have one of the Kinder Lea magazines (goodbye housework and kids homework)!

Leslie

Posted by: leslie at November 29, 2004 1:36 PM

I dont want the magazines, but I am highly amused how everybody likes to have them. I am over here in Germnay and starting knitting again I was so bored by all the german magazines, and inspired by the US/ Canadien stuff, that I only knit english patterns right now:)
If anybody needs help with translation of a german pattern I may help, write me an email.

And Alison its very nice to give all the stuff away, i wont subscribe I think postage would be tooooo expensive and isnt sure to arrive. Weeks ago I send some chocolate over the sea and it still isnt delivered :/

Posted by: Sibylle at November 29, 2004 1:41 PM

Sehr toll!! A chance to practice my German... (or at least look at all the pretty pictures)

Posted by: Jenika at November 29, 2004 1:44 PM

I look forward to your updates all of the time! You've got me seriously considering knitting socks now, which is something I thought I'd never do!!! ^_^

Posted by: taniat at November 29, 2004 1:47 PM

so do you know German?
if only my grandma would have lived long enough...I would have spoken German for sure...alas she past away when I was just 3 years old.
At least today, Babelfish can help us out somewhat.

Posted by: Orli at November 29, 2004 2:29 PM

Ooh, I would love to try knitting in German!

Posted by: Alexandra at November 29, 2004 2:41 PM

Oh, ich, ich, ich! Ich will die!

Posted by: valentina at November 29, 2004 4:54 PM

Me! me me me!~

I'm a Swiss-Canadian Knitter/Artist. Unfortunatelly I only know how to knit from German instructions. Eventhough I've been here in Canada for 17 years and finally am part have been knitting all that time, it's only been from German magazines. Every time I'm off to "good-old-home" I bring something wollen back. I now have a 6 month old son and need some more kids magazines... Also, Alison, falls ich Glueck habe mit dem Gewinn, zahle ich gerne dass porto, oder tausche auch mal gerne mit meinen handgemachten karten (geh mal auf meine webseite kuken...) Tschuessli

This is the first time I've ever left a comment, but I've been reading your blog diligently for weeks and love hearing about your adventures with knitting and the boys!

Posted by: Jan at November 29, 2004 8:11 PM

So....I could learn German.

Posted by: amy at November 29, 2004 8:18 PM

The owner of my LYS is German!! It's serendipity!!

Posted by: amysue at November 29, 2004 8:57 PM

I don't speak German, but I have friends that do! I'd love to have a look through these mags. Thanks!

Posted by: LauraA at November 29, 2004 10:04 PM

they look like great magazines...thanks for the contest!

Posted by: mrspilkington at November 29, 2004 10:32 PM

German knitting mags! They would make great extra credit translation projects for the high school German students.

Posted by: Donna at November 29, 2004 10:57 PM

Those 4 years of high school German & 6 years of living overseas can come in handy at times.

Posted by: Melissa at November 30, 2004 8:12 AM

Mich, Mich, Mich! What a lovely give away!

Posted by: Amy at November 30, 2004 11:58 AM

I would love these :D What a great idea!!

Posted by: Sylvia at November 30, 2004 1:10 PM

Raise hand and hope I win.

This is a great de-stashing Idea. I might have to do the same on my blog. Not sure I've got the readership to support such an extensive giveaway though. :)

Posted by: nancy at November 30, 2004 2:34 PM

Gorgeous. I'm still looking around for a similar pattern on line. I'm worried about what I hear here regarding the pattern...I'm too new to know how to fix it.
What do you think about this pattern:
http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/kkc-blocksAndStripesPullover.html
is that a drop shoulder?
also, check out this...neat page for free patterns:

Oy...I posted my above comment in the wrong place. I'll try again.

Posted by: Orli at November 30, 2004 4:45 PM

i'd love to see these magazines in person, and use my sister's german classes to translate them!

Posted by: jenn at November 30, 2004 5:18 PM

It was during my Junior Year Abroad in Bonn that I started to seriously knit -- in the lecture hall even!
Knitting from the German patterns taught me to always read to the very end of the sentence -- there may be a verb there. You're very generous.

Posted by: Sylvia at November 30, 2004 6:34 PM

German pattern magazines, especially the kids ones......... drool...

Posted by: Uli at December 1, 2004 1:41 PM

I have a few German friends that could help me out with those great magazines! I do have some German blood in me (along with English, Irish, Scottish, Dutch... basically any people that don't tan well;))
What a great set of items!
