I haven't done any more seaming on my big weasleys, but I'm cranking out the minis! (Clouds=bad lighting today. Here's a close-up so you can really see what they look like.)
Speaking of boys, yesterday was Nikolaus, when German kids put out their boots before they go to bed and Nikolaus leaves small presents and candy in them for the kids to find the next morning. The boys were ecstatic! After eating their Nikolaus candy, we went to the "crack store". That was their best attempt at saying craft store. After I tried saying "craaaafffft" very slowly for them, they ended up with "crap store". Craft, crack, crap, same difference right? We got wire to make mini-weasley hangers. And some other crap.

They've been in Boston too long. Are you still going to the Potty Store?
Maybe they subconsciously know of the craft store's addictive properties? I've been known to wander around craft/yarn/fabric stores in a foggy haze for well over an hour, despite claiming to be back 'soon' beforehand.
Those little sweaters.....You're killing me.
Those are the cutest little Weasleys ever.
I agree with Erin, those stores are addictive. Your kids may be on to something, lol! BTW, what's the potty store? :)
ahaha crap store!
I've finished the intarsia on my weasley as well. I did an E instead of an H though.
Okay, okay, the potty store story.
So as we start potty training with the boys, I took them out to iParty to get some potty presents (I even wrapped the presents, so it would be more exciting when they got one). On the way to the store I kept explaining that we were going to the party store to get potty presents. Well, the distinction between the two words was too much for my 3 year-olds and the party store turned into the potty store. The next time we were in a mall that had an iParty, the boys yelled out "look the POTTY store". I could only imagine that those within earshot thought that either my kids are insane or they have the worst Boston accents ever: "look the pah-ty store". Oh the shame.
And by the way, Stefan refused to use the potty for months, so Benny got every single one of the potty presents. He kept the whole bag of them next to his bed for a while. But he let his brother play with them too.
Alison, Loved your leftover vest on Kitty and my boys loved their St. Nick gifts and candy, too. They love the tradition, even though I had to run to the Post Office Sat. to mail off "dorm" boy's goodies. (And he "im'd" me with his thanks yesterday.) Anyway, I have never seen the custom with the Saint part. You do realize that he was a Bishop from Turkey, right?
how neat, I did not know of Nikolaus, we in Holland have Sint Nicolaas, which we celebrate on december 5 (although its officially december 6).
Hangers for the mini sweaters...watch out MS!
Crack, crap...both work, LOL...had a similar problem with one of my godchildren when they were first learning to say "truck"...I don't think I need to elaborate, hee hee. Left a lot of us double-taking and saying WHAT did you say???? and seeing him point to the construction site. Whew.
Hey - and I finished that sleeve last night and sewed the shoulders together. Also wove in all the ends I didn't need while I was at it...hoping to do sleeve #2 tonight.
OH - and Almost Felted gave me a great link for charting - I'm using a font called Lumos cause it looked the most like the sweater font, creating a .gif file and running it through this site and it makes me a PDF chart!!!: http://www.microrevolt.org/knitPro/

Maybe this'll help some people out?
My boyfriend would definitely vote for crap. How cute!
the mini weasleys are too cute but the boys are cuter! The things little kids say can stick for so long, Isabelle is hilarious at times but she is yet to come up with something that has stuck for ages. My entire extended family took to calling my gran by a toddlers mispronunciation for years when one of my younger cousins got her name wrong in a very cute way.
the minis are adorable! too funny about the crap/crack store!
You totally cracked me up with the crack/craft/crap store story. I was sitting in my little cubicle just laughing away. I'm sure people were wondering about my sanity!
Cuuuuuuuuuuuute!
Monday was Saint Nicholas day; the bishop who later morphed into Santa. I wonder if it's related to this German tradition? We don't celebrate it here but I bet the Captain would love an excuse to get presents.
P.S. We do celebrate Three Kings Day on Jan. 6, and the Three Kings bring candy and presents on that day. And that gives me time to knit some of those cute little sweaters... :-)
Those minni Weasley's are SOOOH CUTE!...are they for little dollies?
Yes, I'm sure that all these St. Nicholas's and the German Nikolaus are the same. Definitely the St. Nick who became our Santa. You can even see how the putting presents in the boots is now our stuffing stockings tradition.
Becky, how nice that you can have another little celebration in early January. I remember when I was living in southern Germany (ie, catholic Germany), that day was a holiday as well, but there wasn't any more gift giving specifically. It makes sense though. I know a few Americans who are trying to reduce the amount of Christmas commercialism and try to only exchange gifts on that day in January. Dec. 25th isn't really about gifts.
Orli, the mini-sweaters will be Christmas tree ornaments.
Hey Alison, I got the Yarn Warehouse kit for the Harry Potter sweater. The yarn seems really nice, and the pattern, from what I've heard about the rowan one isn't too different. No shaping in the front and back, etc. I got the kit for the size 38 in the hopes I'll squeeze into it. We'll see ;)
