knitting oranges

It's time for my hat class again, so I gotta make myself a hat. I wanted to make one to go with my new orange bliss scarf, but I can't afford any more of that Cashmerino Superbulky. And I'm all about using up leftovers now, you know? So I pulled out all the orange leftovers in my stash.

The top right one matches my scarf the best, but that's all I've got of it, so I grabbed some Cascade 220 in a neutral gray to use for lower part of the hat. The boys helped me wind the Cascade into a ball. They love the swift and ball winder!

I cast on with my students and knit a bit. Then I realized, I've got holiday knitting to do. I can't be spending time knitting a hat for myself!

You are the hat queen! I love seeing pictures of your boys "helping" you knit - they're so cute and industrious.

Your boys are darling, as usual! Go on--knit something for yourself. I'll do it if you do it! LOL

*hehe* My 15yr looks like that when I get him balling yarn for me. Last night I almost had him balling and ripping.
I love the colors of the hat.

Those boys are just too darn cute!

Of course you can take the time to knit yourself a hat! They take all of a day and are a very good break from knitting you "have to do." ;) The hat's looking good and you need to teach those boys how to knit.

I bit? It looks like you are almost done. Take a few row here and there and finish it up.

Thats a bit?? It would take me a week to knit a bit!

FYI Yarnxpress.com has the super chunky in orange for 37.50 for 5 balls. I'd buy enough for a big cuddly sweater except I'm trying real hard to be on a yarn diet!

Maybe I can get Erika to help me with the swift and ball winder......... if Santa has decided to bring me one of each for Christmas. :-))

Knit a bit? LOL it looks like you are almost done.
I finished my scarf/hat/doggie sweater gift...but my husband seeing the had asked me if I can knit one for my son...awwwwww, of course I can...but I can't decided if to do it now or only after I'md one with the Weasleys. the thing is the Weasleys are goine to take a while...it's not exactly a bulky gauge...I am into row 41 of the back, and still 30 to go before I shpae shoulders...oyish.
My son's hat will be made from left overs.

Yes Julia, it certainly should look familiar. :)

I should add that these moments of yarny joy were sponsored by Julia and Shannon. Trading is good!

Those yarn winding photos are fantastic! Isabelle is obsessed with the yarn winder my gran gave me last week, all we need is a swift and she may never leave my yarn along again.
