sockapalooza
This is so exciting - I can hardly wait to get started!
Dang - that's a lot of sock knitters!!
wowza! now that's a band of knitters!
Hi, great idea, is it still possible to join??
Thanks Bente
Sorry Bente, I've had to close the sign-up for now. At over 100 people, it's very big already. If this round goes well, I'm sure I'll do another one!
[Uh, Sockapaloozers, I tried to set up a mailing list to send everyone the message about what info I need and where to send it, but it doesn't seem to be working. If anyone gets the message, let me know. Otherwise, I'll work on plan B!]
UPDATE:Okay, I'm over my mailing-list-challenged moment. The email's been sent! Looking forward to hearing from everyone. :)
Sorry, no mail here yet. Still, I can't wait to get started! I'm just about to finish a sock for myself... :)
Alison, thanks for including me. If you need help with the overflow, my offer stands!
Got the email and sent the info.
As for patterns--I'm in love with the Cool Socks Warm Feet book by Lucy Neatby. Great instructions and great patterns.
I'm also liking the Retro Rib pattern in the Winter 2004 Interweave Knits for people who like to knit with some texture. They look lovely on the foot and are an interesting knit.
I will second the plug for the Retro Rib pattern n the winter 2004 IK. Made a pair for my Dad for Xmas and I think they were quite smart, he seems to like them (and that's no mean feat, pleasing my Father).
Also think the Uptown Boot socks in the Winter 2003 IK look good, been wanting to try that pattern as well, if anyone is interested....
This is going to be so much fun!
Thank you Allison for organizing it all, you are Superwoman.
I see a couple of folks have beaten me to recommending the IK Uptown Boot Socks pattern.
You know what they say about great minds... ;-D
I will add a recommendation for the sock patterns in "The Urban Knitter" by Lily Chin(Berkley, 2002). These are especially great for beginners - lots of explanation. Another great source is "Folk Socks" by Nancy Bush (Interweave Press, 1994). The Chalet Socks are my favorite - closely followed by St Peter Port Stripes!
anything Nancy bush (from knitting on the road to folk socks ). Great socks, great style and easy to remember patterns. I also like the fiber trend patterns.
Hello,
Alison the Mail arrived and congrats to work around well with a mailinglist. Thanks for all the work :)
Ah and while there are so much european taking part, i give you the link for change inch in cm
http://www.pats-pets.com/cm-inch.htm
I love Wendy's toe up pattern (wendyknits.net) I also love Cool Socks, Warm Feet and Nancy Bush's Knitting on the Road. But since everyone has mentioned the sock patterns from IK, I will have to go and pull out my older issues. I now have all of my sock yarn and needles together so I will know if I "need" to go out and fill in any missing colors and sock fibers for my swap partner.
Feel free to link my name! its http://knittingarrows.blogspot.com/
I can't wait to get an assignment!
April
YAY! I can't wait to get started!
THANK YOU so much for organizing this!
hey... so excited about this. I just now bought that copy of winter 04 IK fom ebay so hopefully it will get here to the UK soon. but then again I really like the Fiber Trends patterns too...
Alison if you see this would you mind adding a link to my blog (url attached) to my listing?
thanks and see y'all on the stitch side...
I love both IK patterns mentioned. Though I haven't tried last years. I'm almost done with the Retro Rib ones though and love them.
I like Seaweed Socks and I just got Folk Socks in the mail today and can't wait to sit down and take it all in.
I have a list of free patterns that have caught my eye on my blog's 8-18 post.
I'm so excited and can't wait to get my match! Thanks for all this work Alison!
Hi Alison! I didn't make it to the list but I DID get the email so I'm hoping I'm officially *in*....I am so excited about this,, thanks for hosting it!
No email yet, but an amazing number of hits on my blog site that came from here :D One sock suggestion would be the hugs and kisses one which Susan(?) designed - the money for that pattern s going to a good cause.
Gosh. I'm going to need help on this project, I know it :)
I LOVE those Retro Rib socks in the Winter IK. Thanks Alison for organizing this; I can't wait to find out who I am knitting for.
Please start another sockapalooza, I saw it too late !!
so excited, my first human socks ever! can we "steal" the button? and I like the ChickKnits Sock Love, they seem easy enough for me
hmm, no email yet! I'll check again tomorrow...
Broadripple from Knitty.com is a fun pattern to knit. I've had my eye on the Uptown Boot Sock from IK for a long time too.
I can't wait- I really want to start NOW! I will be good and wait for my info....but!
I would love to become part of sockapalooz-ers. So far I have one pattern that I have used to make 6 pr of socks, but I love making them and would like to make more, be a little creative, too. I have many patterns to choose from, too. Can I get on the list? Jody
I see Gina on there but not sure its me or that you ever got my email about joining!! I sent it a little while ago.. Will have to go check my email stuff! Either knitting solo or giansavon at Yahoo would have sent it!!!
Hope Yahoo didn't eat it!!!!
