the A.C.

Another trip to the craft store with the boys! After the now traditional discussion in the backseat of whether we were going to the crap or the crack store (S: "it's crack"; B: "no, it's crap"; S: "crack!"; B: "crap!"), we arrived without resolution at the A.C. Moore. Can you tell that the boys like shopping for yarn at the craft store?

I heart Red Heart

While they were browsing the Red Heart, I was looking for something for the fry up bag. My plan was to turn the purse into a backpack (a la the punk backpack from Stitch 'n Bitch), cause my mom, the only person I know kooky enough to acutally use a fry up bag, doesn't do purses. Then I saw the new Lion Brand landscapes yarn.

I remember seeing Libby's cloche hat a while back and thinking how cool the yarn looked, so I've been searching for an excuse to get some and try it out. And I recalled that mom loves the rainbow colors all mixed together (from some recent online sock yarn browsing). So I got it instead.

That'll be one fry up, but substitute a pack for the bag and hold the breakfast foods!

Those boys are so cute. You've sure got them trained. I loved that hat/scarf set too. They never have the good colors of landscapes at my store though.

S is correct. might as well call it the "crack" store since i can never leave AC Moore without buying something... doesn't matter what it is

I love the colors in the Landscape yarn. What fiber content is it? I'll have to check it out.

Libby's pattern is really great. Have fun!

hahahaha, I just love the crap vs. crack debate...and I see it lives on! ^_^

You are a bad, bad woman to show that Landscapes yarn and to get me thinking about buying some. Also, the crack/crap thing makes me giggle each time I read it. Your boys are adorable.

crap and crack- I love it! Kids they make you giggle :)

I have two boys as well (6 and 2) who would not be so well behaved at the crafts store. I'm pretty sure they would be tossing balls of yarn or pulling them apart! Your boys are very cute!

Do you live in Boston? I live in Roslindale.

Hey Alison! I have some pictures of my sock-in-progress on my site.

Sigh. Now I want to go to the crack store and get some crap too.

Alison? I'm being a good little Fixer Upper, but now all my other yarn is getting antsy and jealous! Maybe to help us (read: me) get through a long month of tough love for our old projects, we should have a goal, like making March 1 a day of frivolous knitting or yarn shopping or something, a congratualations to ourselves.

ah... yarn shopping with little ones, I can't believe you did so well with two of them. Much practice I suppose.

My daughter sat down on the couch next to me the other night and said "I want to craps too, Mommy." Things to torment them with when they're teens.

am i seeing a pop culture reference to the "OC" (AC?)...i just got season 1 on DVD...let me know if you want to borrow it (or let me know if you're horrified to find out that i watch it). i went to circles yesterday and got enough jaeger merino for 2 adult or 3 kid's sweaters...went from 3-4 during the 40% off time period...it was wild...

Thanks for pointing out the cloche and scarf patterns- I think I need a set. We used to have fun with our daughter before she learned to say "tr"uck correctly....

Gotta love a skein of yarn bigger than your head!

Posted by: juliafc at February 7, 2005 11:31 PM

Landscapes is 50% wool, 50% acrylic. I really like the brown colorways, but I think mom will like this rainbow one better.

I don't have a problem taking the boys to the craft store. It so much more relaxed there than in a regular yarn store, so I don't worry about them picking up skeins and and carrying them around a bit. And they do love the giant skeins. Like you say, Julia, who wouldn't love a ball of yarn bigger than their head!

Possible progress on the crap/crack debate: S. just referred the the contraption we saw at the Childrens Museum as a "craption". :)

i think that is the same yarn that Georgia used on her site for a small rag bag she designed- you should check it out
