hug your knits
February fix-it month is all about loving your knits. So here it is Valentine's Day already - are you in love again yet??

My son is loving his blankie. Bonne Marie is loving her reclaimed yarn. Laura is loving her Lauralund. Lu is loving her sockapalooza attempt number two. Sarah is loving her thrift-store Manos. And I'm loving the cashmere from my old Banana Republic sweater! Yes, I attacked the sleeves this weekend: I snipped, ripped, wound, washed, and swooned.
Elsewhere this Valentine's Day, Susan is attacking store made sweaters like it's going out of style. Deb is fixing by felting. Melissa just says no to her Heather. Karen has ripped her purple monster. Steph has fixing fever. And I think I've actually fallen in love with the misfit projects that Nadia plans to rip! (Hey, Nadia suggests that once we're all done with our adventurous - and virtuous - fixing, we should all buy or start something totally frivolous on March 1st. How fun!)
For anyone who's fallen in love with the idea of ripping and reclaming yarn, be sure to check out the article "Recycle, Re-knit, and Re-use" in the new Interweave Knits and the accompanying knitting projects on their project page.
And for those of you still frustrated with frogging and fixing, some words of wisdom heard during the Valentine's Day Coupling marathon: "It's a relationship, someone's bound to get hurt!"

Holy crap! Will you look at that? My name changed colors over there.... cool! I think that's a first for me :-). Well, no, there was the tea party, but I've never been this early, that's for sure. Thanks! I wore my sweater to church yesterday for the first time. So warm, so pretty, so much fun! The funny thing is, as easy of a sweater as it is, no one listens or believes me. They all think I'm extremely expert and could knit ANYTHING. It's kind of embarrassing.
That article was one of the most interesting items in the magazine. Some people are so creative. I'm saving all my old t's from now on.
PS Did you see my finished Sockapalooza socks?
I'm sort of anti-magazine, as I never really read them and I end up forgetting why I bought them and then in a fit of cleaning frenzy I throw them away. But that article might be worth getting one for, eh? Love that quote! Classic.
what i am really loving is your son's blanket.
so, total stranger covets blankie. would you point me towards a pattern? my toddler needs one.
tabitha in california.
Don't take pity on the To Be Frogged pile! They are badbadbad and must be punished.
If it makes you feel any better, most of them are being remade into very similar designs, except that they will fit this time. (I hope.)
And I'm sure you must get told this ten times a day, but your kids are the most adorable little angels. I know I hardly know you, but after backreading your archives and watching them grow, I feel like some kind of long-lost auntie or something. Is that weird?
Yes, I am in love with my socks. Thank you so much (again!) for organizing Sockapalooza, I would have never gotten into socks without it!
I immediately thought of your 'fix is in' KAL when I was checking out that article in IK. That blanket looks sooo cuddly!
Yeah, ditto to the above post... I'd love to know what pattern that is for the baby blanket... can you send the info to me too? (or post it?)
Love your blog... it makes me feel happy!

The pattern I used for S.'s blankie is the "Fantastic Eyelet Afghan". It's an Ann Norling leaflet pattern (Pattern #35) titled "Crib-Blanket-Afghan II" . It's written for several gauges and also includes the feather and fan pattern that I used for my other son's blankie, which you can see here.
Just found it online at One Fine Yarn and Jimmy Beans Wool.
how I love the coupling! Hope you had a happy valentines day (or at least as happy as the munchkin looks like he did :)
