enough with pop already!

Pop's latest neckline.

I finished the back, worked out this nice neckline for the front and even sewed the two pieces together, so I could slip it all on and make some decisions.

Decision: it's still not right. It's fine and all, but I now that I've redone it six times, I want it to be really awesome! I've got one more idea I want to try out. If it doesn't work, I'll go back to this neckline. In the meantime, I'm going to work on lengthening those sleeves. Maybe making progress somewhere else will keep me from throwing this whole project out the window.

Maybe.

I admire your dedication on this one, but I agree you've come this far so it has to be perfect doesn't it? Throwing it out of the window must be tempting but don't do it. Just think how happy you'll be to wear it when its all done..

Hang in there! The colors of the sweater require that you finish it to you liking and wear it!
While it's painful frogging, it will be worth it in the long run.

You have the patience of a saint where this sweater's concerned. I'd have thrown it out the window ages ago...

But I'm sure your patience will pay off.

Hi Alison

Im concerned that I dont have the correct socka pal address. I have sent my socka 3 little things thus far, and have asked her to acknowledge that she got them on her blog and she has not. I do not dare mail my , I mean her, socks to the wrong address. Its a po box. Can you double check the address for me or contact her for me?

thanks so

How about a plain scoop neck for pop? The color stripes look great, and this could emphasize them... I admire your dedication on this sweater. If it were me, I'd have pawned it off on a family member by now!

Hang in there. You sound like you're sooooo close. And the colours will look fab on you when it's all done.

Just keep it away from open windows.

I think that you're on to a solution by having the neck opening/collar thing happen within one color. I compared that to the original FO, and I like it much better. Besides that I can offer nothing but encouragement. Go! Go!

I've loved all the collars she's had, maybe I just love the color and ignore flaws. You'll get it right. :)

Hey Alison,

Have you tried threatening Pop? :) You need to let Pop know who's boss!

Just kidding, can't wait to see the FO.

Hop on Pop. Has anyone made this joke yet? Maybe the better question is, how many people have made this joke?

Six times? There's no way I'd have the patience. I think that neckline looks VERY nice. But I totally understand wanting to have it perfect if you've redone it that many times already! Good luck....

MAN it can be disheartening sometimes. Hang in there, pop is gonna be so worth it.

I know that you'll figure it out and it will be fabulous! Your dedication and determination to this sweater and getting it to behave the way you want it to is great!

Hi,
those are some beautiful colors and the stipes are really fun. Did you consider doing s turtleneck? Or a half-turtleneck? That way the emphasis would be on the stripes and they would not be broken up with a neckline... You would get more of a geometric look - just a thought....

I enjoy reading your blog and evrytime I do I wish I have more time myself for knitting

Wow . . . I'm amazed that you haven't burned it yet (I would have!). But everyone else is right, the colors are gorgeous, and at this point you can't not make it work!

Posted by: chris at March 10, 2005 10:49 AM

Your persistence will pay off...but I feel your pain. It's the process....right?

Posted by: margene at March 10, 2005 11:53 AM

You rock! Thank goodness knitting isn't like woodworking, you now, measure twice, cut once. Can you imagine?

Posted by: Mary-Heather at March 10, 2005 11:56 AM

Well, I still love the colors. Sorry it's been so difficult. Keep your chin up!

Posted by: LauraA at March 10, 2005 12:56 PM

I really love that neckline Alison. Of course its YOUR sweater though!
Lookin' great and wow...I admire your ambition. I can't imagine re-doing something so many times to get it right. A type A woman, right?

Posted by: Carla at March 10, 2005 1:10 PM

just wait for me to position myself under your window, then go ahead and throw it out :)

Posted by: Peggy at March 10, 2005 2:05 PM

Can I just say how awed i am by your dedication and how truly gorgeous I think pop will be when done? Wow on both fronts...

Posted by: jo at March 10, 2005 3:36 PM

I'm with Diane. I think a scoop neck would look great with the colors; but if I know you, you'd want something more elaborate for all the effort you have put into it. You are the patron saint for impatient knitters! Don't throw it out the window--it's too damn cold to open it!
