what's black and white and green all over?

Supermerino socks are all done and I think they're pretty super.

So super in fact that I went out to Circles and bought more supermerino for some socks for me. And you're not going to believe the colorway I couldn't resist.

I know what you're thinking: who the hell am I and what have I done with Alison?!

Why, I mean your new sock yarn looks grreat! I just LOVE crazy socks!
Oh, and sorry for dropping in like this - I've been checking your blog recently - every day since I discovered it about a month ago to be more precise. I like your work, the design of your blog, your choice of colour...
Please let me get inspired here, I've re-started knitting recently and it looks like I caught the virus..
Good luck with everything and.. talk to you again sometime!

I can't resist the Supermerino either! I just bought two colors the other day and started some socks using #107 (turquiose), I was also eyeing the black/white/gray that your using... I may have to go back! How many skiens did you use for your first pair?

I like those swirly bands of gray and black!

Tell Alison that we hope she is having fun with the aliens in the flying saucer.

golly...looks like I have recalibrate my monitor!

They look great. Must be nice if you had to buy more. I like the new colorway, especially the cool zig-zagginess.

wow! More stripey socks. Looks like you've seen the other side.
:)
Love them!

Okay... me and my plain socks are having issues now... thankfully, they'll soon be over! ;)

All this sock knitting is making my fingers itchy... I love those green socks, the black and white is pretty cute too!

Uhoh, somebody has a voodoo doll made like Alison, and they are making it wear variegated socks. Hee! That sock knitting addiction comes on FAST doesn't it?

Posted by: Bliss at March 12, 2005 4:56 PM

Oh yes, aliens, that must be it! :) Aliens who for some reason are trying to get all humans to knit socks. They visit and implant some sort of "I love sock knitting" chip in us. That would explain why sock knitting is so addictive!

I love supermerino as well. It is aptly named. BTW, my sockapoolza socks are done and I just posted about them, so please color me green! Thanks for a very fun knit-along. I can't wait to see who gets what.

Welcome to the dark side! I remember when you didn't like socks at all! :)

Posted by: Brynne at March 12, 2005 10:16 PM

the blue socks look so comfy Alison :) I'm itching to start another pair soon, but pacing myself (and trying to finish some other things first!)

Posted by: Carla at March 13, 2005 8:12 AM

By the way, I needed three skeins to finish the green supermerino socks. If I'd done the heels and toes in a different yarn, I could have gotten away with two skeins. Just FYI for all you supermerino and sock fans out there!

Is that Supermerino from Artful Yarns? I'm sitting here working and wearing my pair...my secret pal sent me the yarn!

These black and white socks that you are making... are you doing something special to make them stripe like that in a diagonal? or is it just the way the yarn knits up?

if you can believe it... i posted... it is a picture of tommy's foot in a toeless sock.

Posted by: kimberly at March 17, 2005 11:56 AM

Hey Kimberly! Nope, nothing special, they're just striping diagonal like that. I'm thinking that if I'd cast on more stitches (I casted on 44) the stripes would have been more horizontal. But I'm not so good with spatial stuff, so I could be totally wrong about that.

Glad to see you back online!
