retro ribbing

Just past the heel on the first retro rib sock. It would appear that finishing the hourglass sweater, starting the white bread sweater, taking crazy day trips to IKEA and working at the yarn store all weekend have cut into my sock knitting time.

Looks great. Love the color. I was just thinking about casting on for these today! I love the ribbing.

great socks! what a cool pattern.

Funny how that tends to happen. You're here, there, everywhere and suddendly, POOF, no knitting time.

Your sock looks lovely!

I've got your sockapalooza socks here, and will start fixing the ankles on Monday. Today's project: taxes. :P

those look spiffy!! I'll have to dig up the original post and see what kind of yarn you used! :)

I just wanted to e-mail to thank you for this cool website. I decided to take up knitting again in December after not having done it since high school, and I had no idea where to get started. I found your blog by Googling and I've since been to many of the stores you mention in your posts about New York (which are, as you said, terrific fun), and I've almost finished my second sweater. (And the first one, which I finished last month, even fits!) So thanks for your inspiration and your guidelines - you have helped win a new convert.

Did I miss where that pattern is from? The sock is beautiful, even if you haven't finished it yet.

I loved making those socks, aren't they fun??? Great color choice.

Isn't it annoying how life keeps getting in the way of knitting?? One shouldt be single, unimployed, without kids or friends....
wait a sec... that doesn't sound like a good plan after all...

hi alison! writing you for some sock advice . . .

i've finished my first pair (the first sock i struggled through with lots of help from you and Colleen and the others at knitsmiths) and i LOVE them. Thank you again for your help!

However -- they've stretched out a LOT from just one wearing. And they were a tad big to start out with. They're 100% cotton (i'm pretty sure). Do you think i can safely dry them in the dryer to shrink a bit? I'm willing to risk overshrinking, it's all an experiment. I'd love your insight. Also, i'm having a challenge with tucking in the ends since it's a loose knit and skinny yarn (i used size 2 needles). Any suggestions?

And here's a pic of lovely sock no. 1!! http://sodamncute.blogspot.com/2005/03/sock-happens.html

Thank you again -- I hope to be coming to Knitsmiths with my next project!

The yarn is Lorna's Laces in China Blue and the pattern is Retro Rib socks from Interweave Knits Winter 2004.

I'm working on these too! I think I like your color better than mine... I'm knitting them in a tweedy grey. I want to make another pair for a friend of mine, so maybe I'll try the yarn you're using for those!
