yarn goody #2

6 balls Phildar Licorne in color #101, "giroflee", a gorgeous orangey yellow. Licorne is Phildar's mercerized cotton, like Rowan's cotton glace, but it's much smoother and has a beautiful sheen. It's the same cotton yarn that's called for in the infamous cardi raye (just in a different color). It's 100% cotton, 120m per ball at 25st/10cm. It should be enough yarn to make a large tank or tee. Check the Rowan books for cotton glace patterns.

I bought this yarn thinking it was a totally different color (the Breiweb site shows it as a peachy color). It's a beautiful color, but I'm unsure about whether I could get away with it. Plus, I have some more in red that I know I'm gonna love!

The yarn mitzvah rules: If you're interested in this yarn, leave a comment to this post by Sunday, April 10 and start thinking about yarn you might want to give away. I'll draw a name and announce the winner in two weeks.

Put me in the drawing for this one! It would go great with my red hair!
I love this idea. I have some pretty pricey fingering weight scarf/shawl yarn that I would love to give to someone who would appreciate it. I know I'm never going to use it. I never wear accessories like that, so I don't know what I was thinking when I bought it!

I'd love to have my name added as well. I have some yarn that I could mitzvah out myself... not as much but it's stuff I'm sure I'll never use. :)

Throw me in! I'm envisioning a great baby blanket for a prego friend of mine, and an awesome purple boucle for the yarn mitzvah. I bought it to make myself a wedding shawl, and decided it wouldn't go with the whole veil/dress combo.

Please add my name too. I bought 7 x 50g of lavender baby wool (knits to light DK) to make a lacy summer bolero or shrug, but decided that making a summer shrug is wool is just plain stupid ... it needs to be a winter shrug.

I'd be interested in this yarn. I have several options I'd be interested in giving away.

very very pretty yarn. I just love cotton. I don't have a blog, but do have yarn I could 'pay forward'. wendy

Put me in the drawing! Also, what a great idea. You're going to have good yarn karma coming your way!

Please dd me to the list. This is a beautiful color, and I think it could be *super* flattering... I have some lovely teal wool that I could pass on-- it's gorgeous, but it's not my thing....

Toss my name in. . . I would love to knit a sweater or blanket for my 15 month old son in it. (He looks so good in orange! Like a little prisoner!)
I have a bag of Rowan Kidsilk haze (10 balls? I am not sure, but the bag is unopened) in Wicked that I would love to send to a deserving home.

What a great idea!

Please put me on the list for the Licorne. LOVE the color. And I've never held Phildar yarns in my very own hands...

Posted by: barbara at April 7, 2005 2:48 PM

Hello,

I love both yarn goodies and I love your idea of "paying forward" *smile* If I had to pick (and I will *smile*) I would have to say that I would like to be put in the drawing for the Phildar Licorne. Thanks and have a great vacation!

Oh and the yarn I would swap is some lovely fingering weight scarf/shawl yarn in 100% alpaca. I recently fell in love with lace and bought WAY too much yarn, lol

Put me in! I'd love to work with cotton (never have before). I have some yarn that's been sitting around for a while...

I would love to belong to this sort of knitting legacy. I will have some yarn to pass on. However, I would have to email a pic to you to post on your blog. Or, I will do my best to get one up and running by Sunday night. Thanks, Alison
