go to a yarn store...

...and you gotta expect to come home with yarn.

Shireen is to blame. I am totally hooked on Rowan denim! My second denim baby knit (after the pinafore) will be this little Phildar baby sweater (from Phildar #381), which I'm gonna do in dark blue denim with light blue denim stripes. And I couldn't help myself when I saw the Beatrix Potter Peter Rabbit buttons. So cute!

Next, I've got Lisa to blame, um, thank for renewing my love affair with Rowan all seasons cotton. Lisa gifted me with this bag of beautiful orange/gold asc. I've got plans to do something cable-y with it (like this maybe), because asc looks so damn good in cables! Afterall, it was Amber's incredible cabled sweater that sparked my last asc crush.

But best of all, waiting for me at the store, was this yarn and these truly beautiful stitchmarkers from Amy C. Amy recognized me and the boys (I think most people actually recognize the boys first) at my local Finagle-a-Bagel and remembered that I had posted about searching the Boston-area yarn stores for more yarn to fix B's blankie. Well, she just happened to have two balls of it that she couldn't really find the perfect project for. She wrote me a sweet email saying that she'd like to donate it to the keeping-the-blankie-alive cause. Isn't that wonderful?! Thank you, thank you, thank you, Amy!

By the way, if you happen to go to the store these days, this is what you're going to see:

I have the exact same Peter Rabbit buttons, waiting for the perfect project.

Hey, I'm going through a rowan denim phase too. I am working on that Miss Bea denim dress from our trip back in March. And then Joy from Kim Hargreaves. All my needles, my hands and the sleeves of my clothes are starting to take on permanent blue stains. So worth it!

The NBaT looks great, it just needs a spotlight. I love that pattern for your ASC, it'll look amazing! :)

Hi Alison;

Saw the t-shirt Monday as I was driving to work past the store. It looks lovely, wish I could touch it as I drive by! History in the making -- it gets blogged about, then it appears in a window!

How exciting to have your shirt in the store window! It looks great!!

Wow - I've always liked that Phildar sweater, it will look great in denim. Your T shirt looks great as the store display as well, how nice to be able to see it there every time you go in!

Love your NBaT!! Where do you find your Phildar patterns in English? They have the cutest patterns for kids, but I can't seem to find them anywhere. Thanks!

I've seen lots of cute knits in the Denim. Great stuff! Must get some.

ASC would be a lovely choice for Katy! I was just eyeing that pattern last night. I can't do angora, makes me sneezy.

Yay for NBaT! :)

OOoOoOoo...I love ASC. I have 8 balls of gray that I'm waiting to use. I've also been eyeing that beautiful orange/gold on eBay, but I think that it will just wash me out. BoO HoO!
Love the buttons! :D

I'm loving that Debbie Bliss cabled sweater, and I'm sure it'll look great with the asc you have!

Aw - now the blanket can get even more love :-)

Wait! I am so lost for words.. I never knew that you were the Alison that is associated with A Good Yarn! I sit here reading your blog, and say, hey, that would be a cool blogger to live by.. sure enough, I live about 15 minutes from the store. I don't think I've met you in there, I have only been in a few times.

Love the T-shirt in the front, I will have to check it out...

I have been wanted to try Rowan's Denim. I think I want to make a baby cardigan with it... As for All Season's, I never knew it made such lovely cables! Thanks for sharing...

Super cute buttons. My mother would love them, she has a great love of Beatrix Potter.

Where did you find the great buttons? I collect all things Beatrix Potter and would love to get some.

I saw your shirt in the window yesterday. It is great! I bought some Calmer to make a tank with. I'm loving it so far.

You're welcome, Alison! I can't believe I bumped into you and the boys. It was like I was seeing celebrities. :)

See you in the neighborhood!

Rebekah, I found the Peter Rabbit and several other Beatrix Potter buttons at my local yarn store, a good yarn. You might be able to find them online somewhere too.

Hi, Amy! Thanks again, from B too! Hope we'll run into each other again. :)

The pinafore is adorable! I don't blame you for buying the Peter Rabbit buttons, those are really cute. I know what you mean about friends not having enough girls...I was just thinking that the other day...I have pregnant friends, but they're all having boys. I thought girls were more common!

Those Peter Rabbit buttons must be a classic. My mother put them on a jumper she sewed for me when I was tiny, 25 years ago.
