tuesday is knitalong day

To answer Carla, no sockapalooza two sign-up yet. I'm working on the behind the scenes organization. Should be done by next week! At which time, it might actually be warm here in Boston, meaning I'll have to stop wearing my winter sockapalooza socks and will be ready for a summer pair.

In other knitalong news, my NBaT is now a pile of completed parts waiting for seaming. I can't wait to appear in Nona's regular wrap-up!

S wanted to be in the picture too

And there's yet another store model and another knitalong to report on. Okay, I'm a year late for the knitalong, but with all the excitement surrounding the impending release of the next Harry Potter book (what Jenn, no countdown?), I've started an Azkaban scarf. If you aren't obsessed with Harry Potter like me and some others whom I've already outed and so won't name again, let me point out that in the third movie, the Prisoner of Azkaban, they changed the style of the house scarves. For the first two movies, they were basic rugby-style stripes, but now the scarves are darker with subtler stripes.

This version seems much more mature. And also much longer! I'm using Jamieson's Shetland DK, which had the best colors in my opinion, but seven feet of scarf at 5.5 stitches to the inch is, well, a lot of stitches. I'm loving it though!

I have two young Griffendors who are not only counting the days until the new book is released (and how will we manage one book/two kids?), but would love, love, love to have scarves to wear to the new movie this fall. I love the Jamieson colors you're using, but you're right, that's a lot of stitches. Good car knitting for summer vacation, I think.

I just got my yarn in for my griffyndor scarf :)

I got brown sheep nature spun which is about exactly the same color wise as yours, too fun!

Can't wait for Sockapalooza 2! Time to get out the cotton sock yarn I think.

I knitted three of the "old-style" rugby scarves after the first movie came out. A Gryffindor one for me, a Slytherin one for my boyfriend, and a smaller Gryffindor for a gift. And then they had to go and change the stupid design! I am not angry, though. I just remind myself that I have the "classic" Harry Potter scarf. :)

Looking forward to Sockapalooza 2 (and HP 6!).

The new scarf design is definitely stylin'! Your colors look great.

Looking forward to Sockapalooza 2. If you want help with behind-the-curtain stuff, I'd be happy to pitch in.

Oooh! Raises hand wildly. I would LOVE to be in Sockapalooza Two. I might actually knit a pair of socks! (And I just bought some lovely cotton sock yarn....) I'll be looking out for the sign-up. Thanks for all the organizing!

I love my Harry Potter PoA scarf. I was not interested in making a Harry Potter scarf until the third movie came out. I love the style. The scarf was a great no thinking project that I was able to work on while also completing other projects. I made mine in the book colors for Ravenclaw. If I knew my 2 year old would wear a scarf I'd make one for him! Maybe I'll plan a Quidditch sweater!
I'm very curious to see designs in the next movie.
Have fun with the scarf!

Oh man! I really need to make that scarf for my 10 year old cousin who is addicted to Harry Potter. I love it too... I need to get my hands on that!

Good lord, I take a couple of days off for family visits and PC down time and you just knit a blue streak! I gotta go back now and get all caught up.

oooo-oooo...I wanna Sockapalooza too! Was too busy with other things for the first one. I'll have to go knit a practice pair now that my T is almost done. I may have enough left over Calmer to make a pair of socks to match!

If you go to www.mugglenet.com you can see pics from the new movie! The scarf looks like it remains the same - but wait until you see the school sweaters! Ron & Harry's are v-neck - Hermoine's seems to be a crew neck. On my monitor, the main body color looks to be a deep green with gold and scarlet stripes on each cuff. Now THAT would be cool to wear to the movie! :)

ohhhh, my nephew has been asking me to knit him a Gryffindor scarf for months now...I just may have to do it eh?

Can't wait for Sockapalooza's summer tour! I've been very into sock knitting recently. I'm still loving the new NBaT colors :)

Felicia, thanks so much for the link! I'm a big HP fan but I have to admit, not so much that I read the fan sites. There was a great picture of the whole gang in their scarves on that site and it's good to see that the scarves haven't changed. What a relief ! ;0)

And those sweaters are great looking! Wouldn't you love to have one in cashmere?! Interesting that the one poster image shows the stripes around the neckline too, but they're not there in the actual movie stills. I like the version with just the cuffs better. Perhaps we'll have to have another HP-along.....

Well, you still have 50 days until the release of the book, I thought that was a little early to start the public countdown. Though if you really want one, I have been keeping track and can put it up on the blog. That might give me something to blog about, actually. Hmmm....

I have a question! I noticed you had a pattern for the Weasley sweaters and I am searching desperately for one for an adult sized sweater and cannot find them ANYWHERE. Do you know where I might find one?
