people who make socks...
of course he wanted to be in the photo! Its looking good, cant wait until the pom-poms are on it..
What a remarkable toe! It looks like you are going to seam it on the top, just like a "real" sock. What is that kind of toe called? Do you make all your toes that way or was that what that particular pattern called for? I'm a sock addict, so sorry if I seem obsessed. I've never seen a knitted toe like that before. Can't wait to try it.
hey-it looks like you bought it. they're so nice. my to-do list just got longer. heehee
I looks great. Makes me a little sad I decided against the bright white sock yarn the other day. I thought it was kinda boring and silly, but yours look so clean and simple! The pompom is gonna be so cute! :)
Sarah, the toe is Priscilla Gibson-Roberts' short-row toe. It's done just like the short-row heel and then you do kitchener stitch across the top like a store bought sock. If you subscribe to Interweave Knits you can download her sock pattern and instructions in their subscriber only section online. Or you can find it in her book, Simple Socks Plain and Fancy.
A little birdie told me that IK has posted a baby sock pattern on their site available to everyone that also contains the short-row instructions. Check it out here!
So green with envy ;) I cannot find that book locally! I will have to order it ASAP.
It looks so cool. Very dainty, yet sport, and a whole lot of fun!
Cute!! Love those anklet type socks...need to make some for myself.
Aww! Those are the adorable tennis socks! I can't wait to see the cute pompom!
ooh I love the way you are finishing those toes. Not as much worry over the kitchener stitch, very nice
Anita, I should remind you that I really just used the picture in the book as inspiration. The original pattern is written for fingering weight cotton, with a heel flap and regular toe. I substituted a different yarn and weight and switched to my favorite short-row heel/toe pattern. The book version is very cute, but just wanted to let you know before you go ordering that it won't be exactly the same.
so cute! you so make me want to knit socks!
