all washed up

Denim back and fronts finished and ready for washing!

Before...

(yes, there's this shot too!)

... after.

Again, the denim has shrunk mostly vertically, with all the stitches settling in next to each other making a denser fabric. And the pure blue color has been knocked down as single plies in each stitch fade more than others. It's neat!

What temperature setting do you use on the washing machine to get the temperature range of 60 - 70 degrees? This is my first time washing my knitted pieces. Also, do you then lay the pieces out to dry and block them at the same time after washing them in the machine?

Oh, um, my washing machine isn't that precise. Which is actually good, 'cause neither am I. :0D I just washed the pieces with jeans in the regular warm water wash. The ball band says dry in the dryer, so I did. They didn't quite get all the way dry, so I just layed them on a bathmat a little longer until the pieces were no longer damp. No blocking.

But then again, I'm not really a model knitter! I'm pretty lax about these things. Still, I think the idea of the denim is that's it's just toss it in the washer and dryer and call it a day. And it looks great. Totally my kind of yarn!

Hope this helped a little!
