Hubby and I spent last night working on the matches and they should be on the way to your email boxes today. Get ready to knit!

Please share your progress with us here in the comments to the Tuesday knitalong posts. Feel free to email me progress pics if you don't have a blog. And if you do, let us know there's an update on your blog. 352 participants is a lot for me to keep up with, so I'll really be relying on you to let me know when and where updates are!

I'm looking forward to another awesome swap. Let's do it!

For late-comers: Sorry, but the Sockapal-2-za sock exchange has already begun and sign-ups are closed. If this one goes well, I plan to host another this winter. Wishing you happy sock knitting until then!

A major knitting party! While I'm not part of this, I'm sure enjoying watching the festivities!
A big THANKS to you and your hubby for organizing such a large knit-a-long!

Posted by: Leslie at June 14, 2005 9:35 AM

Perhaps the third one could be called the "Sockapalooza Three-union Tour".

Posted by: Sarah G. at June 14, 2005 9:50 AM

Good idea Sarah! :D

Posted by: alison at June 14, 2005 9:56 AM

Just wanted to say thanks again for doing so much work to organize this event - I'm looking forward to it!

Posted by: Elizabeth at June 14, 2005 9:58 AM

There are seventeen Jennifer or Jennifer-derivatives. Scary.

Posted by: Jennifer at June 14, 2005 10:02 AM

And just look at all those Sarah's in a row!

Posted by: alison at June 14, 2005 10:06 AM

Posted by: Jen S. at June 14, 2005 10:14 AM

Oh my goodness - so many sockers! I can't wait to start knitting.

Posted by: Dawn at June 14, 2005 10:18 AM

This is fantastic! I can't believe I can get even more excited than I already was. Thanks so much for orchestrating this.

Posted by: Katherine at June 14, 2005 10:27 AM

That is truly an impressive number of sockers. This is so exciting! And a fabulous excuse to buy some yarn.

Posted by: tammy at June 14, 2005 10:48 AM

I didn't join this time b/c I just started knitting socks. Can you point me to a good sock pattern to practice on? I like the design of your cashsoft pom-pom sock. What pattern did you use for that? Hopefully I'll be ready by the next Sockapalooza.

Posted by: Sauniell at June 14, 2005 11:35 AM

Only 5 Amy's!? (plus an Amysue). I'm dissapointed. I expected many more of us!

I can't wait to get a-knittin' for my pal!

Posted by: AmyP at June 14, 2005 11:39 AM

Posted by: Cara at June 14, 2005 2:36 PM

Woah, only one Penny. I have started swatching my Practice Sock. #2 needles?!? this is the most fun torture I have ever undergone. I can't wait to see what my sock pal wants so I can buy yarns and choose patterns for him/her. BTW, Cool pattern on the gift sock from your sock pal. Please share the source if you can...

Posted by: Penny at June 14, 2005 2:43 PM

That's a LOT of sock knitters! :)

By the way I emailed you but I suspect my mail has been lost in the crowd... I only received an empty message after the registration, and my mailer didn't recognize the attachment format. (And even if it did I never open attachments even from people I know unless I know what there is in the message.)

Posted by: Kristel at June 14, 2005 2:55 PM

wow - thank you so much alison - what a job you have taken on! i'm excited to get started on my sock :)

i'm in total blog overload!! why'd ya have to post all those links.... i'm off to click the day away :)

Posted by: rebecca at June 14, 2005 3:08 PM

A huge thanks to my tech guys who set up the whole system! Jason got the website and database up and running for submitting the info. (Applause, applause.) And hubby has been working magic with the data. Like making this list of links, lickety split. (Applause, applause.) My job's been reduced to double checking for all those little things that computers don't catch and taking care of changes, updates, and stuff like that. Phew!

Matches coming soon!

Posted by: alison at June 14, 2005 3:20 PM

what a list. it would take me weeks to that list ready!

Posted by: froggy at June 14, 2005 3:23 PM

hoooooooleeeeeeeee socks! (pun very much intended)
what a job that must have been...thank you sooooo much (both now and for future maintenance activities) for putting this together :o) should be a blast!

*trying very hard NOT to haunt the inbox...but it's not working lol*

Just a reminder, if you choose to contact your sock pal through email, make the subject line clear, like "Sock Pal" or something so that your message won't get junked. And if you get no response, it's probably nothing personal, it's a filter.

Posted by: Alison at June 14, 2005 4:50 PM

thanks alison, i just received my sock pal info! we appreciate your effort for organizing this fun knitalong!

Posted by: blossom at June 14, 2005 5:02 PM

Just got my sock pal information and I'm so excited! I loved the last sock swap, and am really looking forward to this one. Now, off to buy appropriate yarn and get started!

Posted by: Kathy at June 14, 2005 5:18 PM

Forgot to say, once again: Alison, you rock!

Posted by: Kathy at June 14, 2005 5:19 PM

WOW!!! I am glad you had some help!! Thanks to you all.....I love this!!

Posted by: Donna S. at June 14, 2005 5:23 PM

I now pronounce you the Queen of Knitalongs. I just checked my sock pal info and the wheels are turning. I'll have to do a little research, but I'm ready for a challenge this time around! Thank you again!

Posted by: Siri at June 14, 2005 6:11 PM

I'm excited about the swap as well as the fact that there are 2 Samanthas!!

Posted by: Samantha at June 14, 2005 7:00 PM

Hooray! Thanks for organizing this!
I'm one of the beginner knitters and I was looking around for sock patterns, but there are such vast differences: from knitting flat and then seaming, to knitting with dpns, to knitting with two circulars, etc. So I thought I would ask: will you be linking to any easy sock patterns for us newbies to choose from?

Posted by: Alison at June 14, 2005 7:02 PM

I'm the only Andrea! I feel so special! ;)

Thanks for organizing this again Alison! I'm already having fun picking out which yarn to use. :))

I've also got a system for checking out all those blogs... only one letter of the alphabet per day. ;)

Posted by: Andrea at June 14, 2005 8:17 PM

Oops... I just noticed a second Andrea... but she's in the beginner's group. ;)

Posted by: Andrea at June 14, 2005 8:18 PM

Alison, hats (socks?) off to you and your Sockapaltwoza Support Team for organizing this exchange! It's going to be a fun summer....

Posted by: Linda at June 14, 2005 10:55 PM

As the only Debi :) I want to thank you and your "team" for organizing this wonderful exchange that brings knitters across the globe together! You are a Knit-a-long GODDESS Alison!!

Posted by: Debi at June 14, 2005 11:46 PM

Thank you so much for all of your work- the first exchange was terrific, and I'm really looking forward to this one, too!

Posted by: Mary-Heather at June 14, 2005 11:48 PM

I bow to your amazing organization skills. I've got my sockpal info and am raring to start knitting. I just have to wait for the yarn to arrive.

Thank you so much for organizing this!

Posted by: Gina at June 15, 2005 2:28 AM

Brilliant, thank you so much for all the hard work - It must have taken you hours and hours sorting out the admin to all this. Got my partner this morning - itching to get started ;o)

Posted by: Jacky at June 15, 2005 2:33 AM

Yay...got my email...I'm waiting for my book of socks to get here. Enough said.

Posted by: Orli at June 15, 2005 2:40 AM

Got my sock pal!!! Yay!!! I've even already decided on a pattern and yarn. Now I'm going to knit up a "practice" pair before starting on hers so I can work out all of the kinks ahead of time...what fun!!!

THANK YOU Alison for taking this incredible thing on!!!

Posted by: Carry at June 15, 2005 11:00 AM

I've browsed for some ideas on sock yarns to use, and have about five options I'm considering. If anyone would like to vote, the options are here:

Oh I want to sign up but can never find a sign up place or person!!

Enjoy!

Posted by: Michelle at June 17, 2005 8:06 AM

I have an update already!

No, I haven't started knitting. But I finally had an excuse to buy some of the gorgeous handpainted Opal sock yarn I've been eyeing for a few weeks at my LYS. Yarn porn at my blog:

http://www.livejournal.com/users/irihs/244768.html

Posted by: RK at June 17, 2005 8:35 AM

Wow - I am happy to be among so many sockapal-2-zers. Thanks so much for your hard work and organizing skills Alison.

Update - I made my big start yesterday by handpainting some sock yarn with my sockapal in mind. I like it and I hope she does too. It is finally dry this morning so I will wind it and try and figure out which pattern I will use.

Happy Knitting!

Posted by: Tiffany at June 17, 2005 1:36 PM

Thank you so much for organizing this sock knitting event. It should be great fun! I have already knit half of a soch but I think that my gauge may ge off. I'm afraid that I'm going to br frogging tonight. Oh Well.........I like knitting these because I tried the method of using two circular needles.

Posted by: Diane at June 19, 2005 11:07 AM

Hey Alison! Thanks for organizing the Sockapal-2-za! It's such a great knitalong!

I updated my blog with pictures of the yarn I'm using and the beginnings of the toe-up socks for my sock pal!
