lesson for the day
T-shirt trouble.

bad, t-shirt, bad
So I'm cruising along on the back of my latest nothing but a t-shirt. I'm in the straight rows between the decreases and increases around the waist and my ball of yarn runs out. I grab a new ball, start knitting, and then, without checking the row count or the pattern, randomly decide that it's time to start the increases. Knit, knit, knit. I finish the increases and measure to see how much longer I need to knit before the armholes begin and I'm WAY off. What up with that?! I only did like 12 rows between the decreases and increases. Whoops! Heh, heh.
The lesson for the day: Always read the instructions. Even if you wrote 'em!

ha ha ha, now that's funny. I feel much better now.
That's what I do all the time, I never read the instructions properly or rather read them too quickly and miss chunks and then kick myself. So it's good to see even the best do the same!
"Even if you wrote 'em!"
LOL! That is precious! ;) Luckily you realised your error at least. :)
It is good to see that other people also have memories like sieves!
That's what happens when you start to think you know it all ;)
Boy, when the designer of the sweater has a problem, you know there's trouble!! (grin) I'm almost done with the front of mine--almost up to the neck shaping. I do love that Calmer yarn!
It always does my heart good when someone who does such beautiful work not only makes mistakes (and in reading the pattern, no less) but is big enough to admit them in blogland!!!
I, too, love the calmer yarn and can't wait to get back to it. Just. have. to. finish. my. mother's. tank. first. ugh. (stockinette forever...)
Your human -- except that you are the fastest hand knitter (watch out Lily Chin)!
LOL - funny! "Boy with Banana Admiring Clapotis" is a classic title by the way. And I love the Harry Potter scarf. It's HUGE!!
Aww. that is so funny... that sounded like a yarn yarlot moment :)
I think it's easier to forget your own pattern, since the first time you knit, you are making things up as you go along rather than concentrating on the specifics (which haven't been invented yet). Then there's the feeling that of course you know how to knit this - it's your pattern! Done that many times myself :-P
Ha! Now I'm *way* ahead of you. ;)
Is your boy giving your bad, bad t-shirt a little love pat or a spankin?
