oh, what a night

Finally back online after a massive thunderstorm and almost 10-hour power outage. We lost power last night while I was finishing the sockapal-2-za update. I posted the update under UPS power (that's a temporary backup power source for the computer - computer geek husband standard equipment) just in case the power returned while we were sleeping. And as I was finishing up, the boys were woken by the thunder. It was actually the very first time that we've all gotten together to watch a storm in mommy and daddy's bed.

Jon kept waking me up every time there was a flash, saying, "Did ya see that one?" So thanks for the amazing photo!

We ended up with a very similar scene though ours included scared cats along with the boy.

I know! What a storm last night! Aww.. I hope your boys were okay...That picture is so cute with him covering his ears... I have to admit, I was doing the same thing for a while after watching it for a bit :)

That's a great picture. And I love it that in the midst of a thunderstorm, you were documenting the occurance to share with us.

As we were listening to the storm, I told Jason: "I hope this doesn't wake up the boys and scare them" Literally in the middle of saying that, there was an ENORMOUS clap of thunder, and I added: "But I'm pretty sure they're awake now!" Hope they weren't too rattled!

It was a wild storm! I'm not sure I've ever been in anything quite like it.

loving the stripey covers!

What a great picture. When they were little, I had 1 kidala that LOVED lightening & thunder and 1 that HATED it. Not that we get much lightening here, but it sure brings back memories of my grandparents' farm.

It was definitely a wild storm! I was driving from Boston to NH as it started... almost the whole way, I saw TONS of lightning but no thunder or rain. Those started just as I got off the highway. Weird.

Now you'll have the kids ask if stuff works again. And remind you of the time the lights went out.

Good family folklore.

What an amazing photo! I love snuggling up watching a thunderstorm. Good family times.

Great Photo! I was trying to look through your archives last night and wondering what was happening - yikes!

Posted by: jo at August 2, 2005 5:58 PM

Wow. I am sure your kids love to snuggle up with Mom and Dad.

Posted by: emy at August 2, 2005 9:46 PM

Wow. The lightning is literally bright as day, except blue.

scout made it through about 10 minutes of the storm and i kept saying "well that outta wake her" and then "c'mon, that will wake her" and then when i was about to run into her room convinced that she must have stopped breathing, i hear the wonderful shriek "mommmmmmie, i scared"
