it's a girl!

Hat.

I so seldom knit for girls that it didn't even occur to me that most of the hats I'd made for the kids for caps program were sort of boy hats. Until I found some leftovers of Debbie Bliss' cashmerino asktrakan in my stash. It was so fluffy and purple that I had to do something girly with it. I did the roll edge, a small dot on the top, and a big, floppy flower in the asktrakan and the rest in some white Pingouin also from the scrap stash. (By the way, the asktrakan is cool looking and fine to knit with, but trying to rip something out, seam, weave in ends, or pull a strand through live loops is a nightmare. I'm glad I was only doing a little trim and embellishment with it.)

You think S will hate me someday for taking pictures of him in all these hats?

It is a cute hat....hopefully he will forget that you are making him wear a girl's hat :).

Only when he's old enough to find trying them on embarassing.. you probably have a few more years! :) Adorable hat.

Nice job, as usual! I can imagine the little girl who is going to get this, loving it wanting to thank the anonymous knitter someday!

Alison, don't worry -- I've been concerned that the hats I send are too "girly" and working toward making more that are neutral or flat-out "boy." I suspect it all evens out. (And I never would have known the model was a boy if you hadn't told me.)

As long as you don't show it to future girlfriends I think he'll be all right ;)

That is so cute and silly :) That picture is going to be in a wedding slideshow someday :)

I'm betting he laughs at those pictures some day, provided you don't parade them in front of his first crush, that is ;-)

I love that yellow Kool-aid yarn! It made a terrific hat, a perfect match. :) It is so bright!
