the elves are back
One weekend on the job and the elves have already finished one holiday knitgift. And yes, this one is really done, not merely almost done, like the boys lining-less hats or hubby's still plain tech guy socks!

This is a scarf for one of my great aunts (and just because I love misleading the folks doing tacky google searches, I'll say it again, these are the aunts for whom I knit the hotties). I like to try to knit something for them every year and this year mom suggested scarves. I scoured the store for just the right yarn - soft, washable, chunky, and not too expensive - and Marks & Kattens' Kosmos yarn fit the bill perfectly. With the acrylic content it's soft and washable, on US10's it only took two days to knit, and it cost a mere $10 for the whole scarf. I picked a lovely pink for the other aunt and her scarf is already blocking!
The elves are back and they're on a mission.

Great scarf!! :) Where on earth did you get the pattern for that adorable giraffe jacket/sweater? I saw it when I looked at the Hotties link. It's too cute!
You can't go wrong with that price and the length of time it took you to finish the gift! Nice work.
when your elves are done, would you mind sending them my way?
Can you send those elves over here to help with the knitting? Lovely scarf they (wink) made :-)
God bless the elves! After my troubles with the fairies, I'm trying to finish everything on my own!
Whoo hoo! IT will not happen to you! Lets hope IT doesn't happen to me... congrats, I am also opting for chunky yarned presents :D
So inspiring -- Homemade gifts w/two small boys--I don't know how you do it, but I sure wish I could! Happy Almost Thanksgiving!
What a great gift! A lucky aunt indeed!
Did you get my email yesterday? Let me know if you did not!
And I LOVED the hansel sweaters! A dazzling trio indeed!
Do these elves travel to Europe this time of year? How could I get ahold of them?
Lovely. Is that straight garter stitch? I can't tell.... If not, I hope you'll share the pattern...? :-)
Mary, the patterns five rows of stockinette stitch and then on row of garter (knitting on the purl side). You still get the look of stockinette, but there's just enough garter stitch there to keep the scarf from completely curling in on itself.
