the elves are getting bored

Sock knitting induced ennui has set in.

The elves finished gray sock #1 but got bored with the gray.

So they started a blue sock (Shepherd Sport in denim) with ribbing.

Oh yeah. Can you feel the excitement?

Go go go elves! My elves are trying too, but in secret... that's tough when the recipiant is ALWAYS HOME!

I hear ya. Same thing's going on with my elves!

I always like the look of a ribbed or patterned sock better than plain stockinette just cause the leg part looks so loose on stockinette. I always think it won't fit me or something. Silly, I know. I'm making some pretty blue socks for my daughter in the Cable Rib pattern from IK and I can't wait to make some for myself. Enough about my sock knitting? :)

My elves keep getting distracted by other projects too. How to best keep them in line... More chocolate?

It is a distracting season isn't it? The grey is beautiful.

I love that ribbed sock ... it really looks beautiful. I've got the ennui too..I keep starting things, then ripping them out, then starting something else!

I can't seem to keep with the Christmas knitting program at the moment.

Did you get a package from me?

your speed amazes me! both socks are gorgeous - i can't wait to be knitting well enough for socks....i'm getting there :)

Love the socks! I really need to retry the hourglass heel. Since i can't do it without reading your instructions or PG-R's instructions, I don't do it! I think I am going to make some of your anklets for my MiL though -- she requested house socks.

I've got the ennui myself. I switched from a jaywalker sock for one of my sisters to a baby hat last night when it set in. I really need to focus!

The cure involves entertaining the elves. Choices are:

- a good stitch and bitch
- an entertaining movie
- a book on tape
- playing scrabble with someone who takes time to think
- a long car ride as the passenger
- a stint in a waiting room

I think I've listed those in my order of preference. :-)

Rough, isn't it? I always have such grand aspirations and end up wanting to fizzle!

We're nearing the end of Christmas knitting, but I keep finding my elves sitting down on the job. I tried taking them out for coffee, but lost them in the mall--haven't seen them since. It's going to be close this year!

I understand completely! Not too many sock to go though :) (that's what I have to keep telling myself)

I LOOVVVE how the ribbing turned out. My elves really want to knit socks but I force them to do more christmas presents.
