continental drift

I find myself in the unfamiliar situation of only have one current project on the needles: my sockapaloooza socks. (Yes, there are all of my works-not-in-progress, but they are waiting for my right wrist to feel fully recovered.) I'll knit for a while - like all day Sunday - on my sockapaloooza socks and then my hand needs a break. And I find that on days when I've been knitting continental, my wrist feels really good. So I will continue with the continental projects. The same continental projects, in fact. T-shirt sweater number two is underway.

The cotton angora is knitting up quite nicely and quickly. I've used this yarn before, for my mother's jess sweater, so I was ready for the angora fluff up the nose and the slightly smooshed appearance of the stitches. I love the color and the feel though and think it'll be nice as a simple, casual top to pullover another tee.

And since I've just knit the same pattern, it is completely mindless knitting now. Gotta save that mental energy for my design projects! Wow, I'm resting my hand and resting my head; this project is like total knitting sloth!

How have you managed the pilling and shedding in the other Cotton Angora sweater? I made one that leaves a trail of pink fluff behind me and on my clothes everytime I wear it. It's a great transitional sweater, but I'd love any suggestions on how to keep from wafting away on a cloud of fiber -- otherwise I'm just going to wash it enough times that all that is left is cotton!

I'm a relatively new knitter and have only *just* discovered projects of knitterly sloth!! I love them just to break it up a bit and give the hands a time out.

Is this Debbie Bliss Cotton Angora, or something else, Alison?

Posted by: Frarochvia at April 19, 2006 9:45 AM

Yes, Frarochvia, it's Debbie Bliss cotton/angora. I know lots of people hate it, but I kinda like it. Anmiryam, the jess sweater doesn't get worn, so there haven't been any problems with shedding yet. My fellow Knitsmith, Johanna, has a cardi made of the cotton/angora and likes wearing it very much. It sheds on her pants when she wears it, but it looks really good on her. I'm determined to give it a try. It'll be a cropped 3/4 sleeve sweater, so I hope that will minimize the shedding a bit.

I love the color of that yarn. It looks kind of blue, kind of purple--violet maybe? But not really violet either. Way cool! :)

Heh, nothing wrong with a little zombie knitting. :)

So funny...I thought the fiber up the nose only happen to me.
I find that I knit continental and purl english.

If you like Angora, Jaeger's Roma is to die for! We all couldn't stop fondling the project my student was knitting up! :)

I like the sound of a t-shirt sweater - is there a pattern or did you make it up? I'd like to try it.

The color of that yarn is beautiful!

There's nothing like mindless knitting for nicely turning your brain off for a while, especially with twins in the house! I'm so with you on that. Lovely sweater so far!

Yeah, I'm all about the knitting sloth. But here's hoping your right hand gets all better soon.

I must say, i'm generally a person that cringes at the site of purple...that is perhaps the only if not one of the few shades of the color that I like. Looks lovely.

Whta a great color! I love it!

I was wondering where to get the pattern for your mom's Jess sweater?
Thanks
