think spring

If spring won't come to you, you have to make your own. Another cold, gray weekend in Boston inspired me to buy 9 balls of Rowan cotton glace in pink to make this from the latest Rowan book. I tried on a sample of this sweater in the store and it looked so good on that I couldn't leave without the yarn. I've already knit a swatch and it's gotten me so excited for spring!

If I knit it, it will come. Well, it's just a theory.

That is beautiful? How do you do that stitch pattern?

I like that theory. A lot. But the rain was a godsend for my heavy wool winter projects - it inspired me to get cracking and make good progress towards finishing.

what a cool sweater - I like the scrunching up option too. Maybe my orange cotton tank will team up with your cardigan and ensure some warm weather?

This is a real cute pattern and it's going to look great on you! I love that stitch pattern; is it difficult?

Are you doing that in pink? I see a trend ;)
Seriously, if you are looking for some nice hand-dyed silk ribbon, I think we might be able to work out a trade.

That's a super cute stitch pattern, especially in pink.

Yes, of course, spring is a state of mind, not just a season! Spring is here in the upper Midwest, with daffodils on their way out and tulips coming in. But, tomorrow the temp. will be in the low 50's--typical Wis. spring.

It's spring here, you can have it. The breeze, the redwood trees releasing their pollen, the scotch bloom doing the same. Everyone's eyes red with noses running. Spring isn't my favorite season I love fall!

That's going to be a lovely sweater!

Very pretty!!

I'm taking the opposite approach - I'm working on a long-sleeve mohairy sweater, and I'm convinced that spring will come for good before I finish it to make sure I don't get to wear it for a few more months. :P

Sometimes you wonder how can something so simple look so nice! Hope it looks as nice on a bigger surface! I really like it puffy like that, but you'd probably lose most of the puffines in blocking. Might be one of pattern/yarn combinations that is better left unblocked. Depending what you're after, of course.

Pretty swatch. Nice springy color.

Nice weather is on it's way tomorrow, since we're having wonderfully warm and SUNNY days here in the midwest. Love the stitch pattern.

The color and the stitch pattern are as springy as it gets! But I think the cardigan needs to be about six inches longer. Cropped is one thing, but these ulra-mega-super-cropped sweaters can look like they were chucked in the dryer by mistake. ;-)

That is such a cute jacket, and your swatch is be-ooo-tiful -- enough to give pause to even the untrained eye. Can't wait to watch it progress.

So.Pretty. I love this issue of Rowan, weirdness and all. Someone came into the shop and said it was "way too Burning Man" for her, but you just have to ignore/appreciate the silliness and get inspired by the PRETTY PINK COTTON! Oh, sorry, didn't mean to shout. :) I have Jaeger for an older Rowan (2 summers ago, I think) cotton cardi that I'll be knitting up soon.

I left Indiana to apartment hunt in Cambridge and was greeted by that stunning, rainy weather - thanks goodness I brought some happy wooly socks to work on.
That pink is just delicious - I'm sure even the cranky New England weather won't be able to resist for long!!

ooh, me too! love that sweater...making it in Patons Grace..so cute!

What a cute top! And I love the way the pattern looks so springy!

I love that sweater. They are making it at our LYS and I really like it. What color pink is that that you are using?

Posted by: Diane at April 24, 2006 3:34 PM

I'm so psyched to see that you're knitting this sweater - it's one of my favorites from the new Rowan mag. Can't wait to see how it turns out - I'm sure it will be beautiful. And I love the color.

that is lovely! what are you going to make? a shrug? a light weight v sweater? i'm sure what ever you knit spring will come! (hey it worked for kevin kostner didn't it?)

What's up with the models' Cyndi Lauper hair-do??

Scare Me...

Posted by: Roberto at April 24, 2006 10:38 PM

I'm so happy you're making this! It's really cute and odd, and it'll be so exciting to see it on a real person!

Posted by: Susan at April 25, 2006 2:33 AM

I like that one too, but probably won't knit it. However, if I were to try on a sample that looked good, things would be different. AGY has a sample??

Posted by: claudia at April 25, 2006 8:41 AM

That is a really nice pattern - can't wait to see the finished product!
