I'm squeezing in (literally!) a little knitting design between the boys' Lego projects. They're always needing help putting axles together and taking bricks apart, so it's best if I don't go too far when I'm working.

dye job
Oh my goodness, I want to eat that yarn. I guess that's one of the dangers of using koolaid--it really looks like "food". (Is koolaid really food? Is candy? But the colours are so delicious!)
Great colors--I used similar ones for my "Institution" yarn I made with Scout.
Those stripes are so fun!
It doesn't get any more perfect than that!!
Wow, I know you didn't love that purple but it's actually a nice counterpoint to the others, or as the Mason-Dixon ladies call it "balancing juicies and blahs".
Wow, great work on the submarines! And nice job on that hand dyed yarn. Love the colors!
I love those colors! I have always wanted to try Kool Aid dye, and that just did it for me. Now I will have to do it.
wow! i love this kool aid stripes!!!
and i found your "rewards" inspirational... i wish my three year old loved lego too... do you remember how old where they when became interested??
we have the same laptop! i love toshiba.
the blue in your stripes is ELECTRIC!
The dye job is beautiful!
Perfect! Your very own mini-ringel. Will themed self-striping sockyarn be next?
Lovely yarn!! I'd love to do that some time too, only no kool-aid here in Norway :/
My sock pal has been making me very curious, sending out all kinds of secretive e-mails. I'm sure I'll get great socks this time as well, it seems like she's really making an effort to get it all perfect :)
AND I've finished the first of the Norwegian socks, but probably not in time to make the big update.
Betty, the boys had the big Primo/Baby legos when they were just able to hold and stack toys. They played with them from ages 2-4, until we passed them down to friends with a new baby. We got them started on the Duplo legos at 3 and they really enjoyed them. They still play with those too. For their 4th birthday, they got Duplo legos and a very small starter set of the smallest legos just as a trial. They seemed to do okay with them and then at about 4 1/2, just last October, we bought them their first real lego set. They were like naturals! We helped them build the first few things and they've been following the instructions by themselves ever since. It's definitely in their genes though. My husband was an engineering student and was always taking things apart as a kid. He was just as excited as they were that they were finally able to do real legos! I wasn't ever into them as a kid, but now I think they're pretty cool too!
as someone who grew up playing with legos (we had the kitchen set, the original "plastic" conatiners that were impossible to see into and lots of flower parts - it's packed away somewhere) I must admit that I love seeing what they are coming out with now. My brothers and I could play for hours, both with the directions and with the basic pieces.
the stripes are lovely. Lovely.
