stash enhancement

they're heeeeeere: Spongebob legos!

The boys are adding to their lego stash at an alarming rate (all a part of my plan to make my yarn stash look less conspicuously large - hee hee). We knitters should recognize all these classic signs... Such as stopping by the store because we just happen to be "in the area" (well, the Natick Lego store IS in the Boston area).

19 points for the big crane set

Trolling eBay for bargains.

yes, they are really looking at Legos on eBay

And finding that one amazing thing you simply can't leave the store without. Like the Spongebob legos. There was no talk of points or saving up for them, we had to get them.

look at the teeny tiny Plankton piece trying to steal a Krabby Patty!

And build them. Immediately.

that's one happy kid

That reminds me, there's something I need to get at the yarn store....

The boys are looking so grown up all of a sudden!

Trans-generational enabling - your are, as always, an inspiration to us all!

I remember those lego days - I think my heart would pound louder than his when we found something hot off the presses. Then he went into Playmobil, with all those little tiny pieces designed to drive mothers insane.

Now things are different - we are picking him up from College at noon to go out for a Mother's Day brunch and I pray that he wears a shirt with a collar and has found time to take a shower. If he doesn't, I will love him the same and remember the days of legos!

Happy Mother's Day to one of the best!

AH! Must have Spongebob legos! (we'll say it's for my lil brothers).
Happy Mother's Day!

Those are awesome. Your kids are so adorable, I can hardly stand it. I loved legos and erector set and all those things as a kid. (My mom bought us a lego space station once, and it was the only time we drove from Phoenix to California for vacation and didn't argueonce the whole way. I hope my little guy likes legos!

Ah! Sponge Bob legos? How flipping awesome is that! I've resisted legos for my kids this long, but I cannot resist Sponge Bob legos. Off to Toys R Us (and then the yarn store)

Are they already available? Really?

Posted by: Kathleen at May 14, 2006 2:54 PM

Love Legos (altho I admit I wasn't so fond of them when DD was young & I kept stepping on them in my bare feet)!!! I bought the Megablocks for DGS #1 for his first BD. Unfortunately, it didn't "take" - he & his lil bro just aren't into them! They are Thomas the Tank Engine fanatics & now love the Lincoln Logs & Tinkertoys we bought to keep at our house for them. But there's just something about Legos. Maybe I'll take them to Lego Land.

Have you gotten them ZOOB's yet? My kids totally dig them right now.

Posted by: Scout at May 14, 2006 3:39 PM

Have you taken the boys to The Construction Store on Moody Street in Waltham? They have a great selection of Lego's and any other type of building toy you can imagine! Plus they have a separate 'train' room for Thomas lovers. It's closer than Natick! It's fun for kids and adults.

Too funny! Hope you are having a very Happy Mother's Day! :)

You know Circles is having a sale today if you bring your kids. See you there.

Kathleen, I'd been asking at the Natick store for weeks and kept hearing that the Spongebob sets would be available this summer, so we were shocked when we stopped by the Burlington store and saw them there! If you can't find them at Natick or the Toys R Us yet, go to Burlington.

Melissa, we love the Construction Site! The boys used to throw tantrums when we had to leave the store. We go sometimes on rainy days and they have a blast in there. I like their selection of Legos too - they don't carry every line, like killer robots or killer dinosaurs or marketing tie-in this and marketing-tie in that. I'm not sure they'd even carry the Spongebob legos, since they seem above that. Some of those Lego Education sets though, you can only find there.

Shhh, Scout, don't tell, but these are already on the boys' birthday list!

I didn't know about the sale, Jo. We're a little too busy here with Spongebob to go anywhere today though. Have fun! :)

If you can have a few minutes to yourself knitting, the cost of Legos is well spent. My 9 year old still plays w/his everyday (you may want to convert your old Thomas the Train table to a Lego table like we did).

Happy building!

noooooooooooooooooooooo! not spongebob legos! remind me to read your blog after the boys are in bed!

gah!

and i might need some help with my sock pal, she sent me the socks, but i can't read her email addy, and she didn't put a blog addy down! help!

Posted by: minnie at May 14, 2006 11:34 PM

I must have that set. If they are very, very good, I might even share it with the boys ;-)

Posted by: Kathy at May 15, 2006 3:56 AM

oh dear...thier is sponge bob everything, I don't even want my son to discover that show...I don't like him...he's rude.

As for legos. I was looking for legos on ebay as well...but I don't want sets. I just want plain building blocks for my son to get started with and for me to be able to have some quality time with him...any ideas?

he alrady had the youngish version of the bigger blocks...but you can do much with those.

Posted by: Orli at May 15, 2006 5:16 AM

Don't like Spongebob? Really?! Well, I can imagine he's not everyone's cup of tea. He is a bit over the top and some of the storylines are pretty nutty, but we just love him. I like the fact that he's a very positive personality, always being "ready" and happy and upbeat. So many kids' cartoons are exclusively about people being mean to one another and hurting each other. Spongebob is more about having fun and enjoying everything. Even if someone is mean to him (and that's never really the point of any episode), he has fun. I see him as much being more naive than "rude". I'm wondering, do you see the show in translation, Orli? Have you just read about the show?

That eBay picture just kills me! My 23 year old half German boyfriend STILL has his massive Lego collection (in his parent's basement and not ours, thank goodness) and he's a blue-eyed blondie just like the twins. He's an engineering Master's Student now, and it all started with the Legos...

Posted by: Cirilia at May 15, 2006 10:43 AM

And then one day, they aren't playing with them. My now-16 year old accumulated a glacier's worth of the things, many of which still live on his shelves assembled as models. Make sure you never lose the assembly booklets (keep a file in your cabinet) and have a blast with them. It's over all too quickly.
